yes momcat, you can keep both beside each other

now heres the slightly tricky part, but its not really!!! LOL + Locate your Victoria 3.cr2 file, usually found here: C:Program FilesMetaCreationsPoser 4RuntimeLibrariescharacterDAZ People + COPY & PASTE it to the same directory, it will pop up called something like 'Copy of Victoria 3' + open it with a text editor (i used word pad) + goto EDIT - REPLACE + in the top line 'FIND what' put in blMilWom_v3.obj secind line 'REPLACE with' put in blMilWom_V3_UV.obj or whatever you named your new obj file we created earlier. + now when thats down just click SAVE (not save as) + remember to rename your newly created cr2 File, you don't want it called 'Copy of Victoria 3' LOL.. so call it something like Victoria 3 UV + Load up poser, go to FIGURES open your DAZ PEOPLE library and there should be your new figure, she won't have a picture just that strange person with there hands up, you can create a PNG for her later! or resave her when you have injected the V3 morphs into her!! Now go and render away, apply all those gorgeous V2 textures you thought you'd never be able to use on your gorgeous shiney new V3!!! I really hope that helped.. If anything was unclear i will do my best to clear it up!!! HUGZ Happy rendering -=SimderZ=- *ps i am aware there is an error with the right nipple & apllying mat files... I think there is a new UV file out there to correct this problem. If someone knows where it is post it here, then all you'd need to do is repeat all the steps but use the corrected UV instead of the DAZ one!!!

"Does this replace V3's mapping with V2's? Is there a way to do this so I can keep one version of V3 with V3 mapping, and another with V2 mapping? " nope it just creates a NEW V3 figure that is able to use V2 textures, and still use all of V's morph injections.. It won't replace anything, you'll still have you main V3 and V2... This newly remapped V3 however cannot take V3 textures anymore, as she is remapped to tell Poser to where it should put V2 textureson V3's changed body geometries.. :) hope that helped! -=SimderZ=-
Simderella posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 11:47 AM
OK.... i found the link to the corrected UV file.. It correctes the error in DAZ's UV's that made V3 remapped right nipple not show up when using V2 textures... http://www.thenetherworks.com/Mesh/Victoria3to2UVfix.zip simply use that UV instead of blMilWom_V3_V2UVs.uvs i mentioned in STEP THREE and all should be peachy!!! Have Fun -=SimderZ=-

i can say this, I was working with the sr1 stuff from daz. And there's two uv's. One is blMilWom_V3_V2UVs.uvs that you listed and that's what I used in uvmapper. There's another from daz called blMilWom_V3_V2UVs-mat.uvs which i did not use in uvmapper.

you have to use the uv-file with "mat" in the name.otherwise matposes are not working
tasquah posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 3:32 PM
nope i just tried that out becasue i was getting the same thing . Were EricofSD went wrong was in the step 4 part . I believe that there was more checked than the 2 or that was what i did wrong . I also used the NEW sr1 CR2 though.

BecSchm posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 3:50 PM
Blazerwiccan - for some reason the "strength" setting under the texture map for the eyes on V3 seems to set itself to 0%. If you reset all eyeparts to 100% strength, all seems to be fixed. That's what has happened to me sometimes, anyway.
Blazerwiccan posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 4:13 PM
EricofSD posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 4:43 PM
I was careful to only check the two boxes in step 4. I'm sure i got that right. I can try again with the -mat file. I tried several textures. Some from the AtoZ collection, some from the Essence of Beauty collection for the milgirls which map perfectly on to Vickie Lo res. I'm pretty sure I had some V2 textures that I tried but not positive about that. Maybe that's an issue.

This is wonderful, thanks Simderella! Can this same process be done the other way around? I would like to use V3's textures cooridinates on the "V3 to V2" version of V3. Is there a way to do that? Wondering if anyone has tried it. I tried it, but I might have done something wrong, because it didn't work.
tasquah posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 8:29 PM
mabfairyqueen you should still have a regular V3 to use V3 textures on . Unless you mean a regular V2 to use V3 textures. Darn now i am confused.
mabfairyqueen posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 9:08 PM
I meant the V3-to-V2 version of V3, but I've been told her mesh doesn't match up with regular V3's mesh in the body and so it won't work. Is that true?
tasquah posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 9:20 PM
I would say yes thats true, it will not work to use a V3 texture on it after its been converted. What part were you thinking of useing if you dont mind shareing ? Might be another way to do it.
mabfairyqueen posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 9:43 PM
Well, while waiting for clothes for V3's slightly more complex cr2 to be made, I was hoping to use the V3toV2 version of her to clothe a particular scifi character I've made using regular V3 with the hi-res V3 mapping at daz. I'd like the mapping for the character to match on the V3toV2 version as well so that I can expand her wardrobe in the mean time. I love the new mapping of V3 way, way, way better than original V, nice as her mapping was at the time, and I don't want to go back. Plus, I've already established this character's look where I'm using her at using the hi-res daz v3 textures maps. Thus my delimma. If there was a way to just remap the head to V3's head mapping, that would do. I could modify a body texture I already have for original V to do for the body.

Hi,I am attempting to do your tutorial on using V3 to use V2 maps.I am not sure about a couple of things in wordpad or notepad. You say go to EDIT-REPLACE ok so far and the placement of the obj's is fine in the Find What and Replace, but is the next line I am having trouble with where you say ,when that is down hit save(not save as.This is my question.Do you hit replace or replace all and then close the text editor and then save or if not what do you do? Also do you use the UV FILE UVS MAT or the one without Mat.I would appreciate any help as I have never used a text editor before. Cheers arrow1
