Hi Firstorm , let me give you my take on #2 for what its worth. If I had found this I guess you found it and not arranged it, I think I would have seen the nice side lighting and the face in the arrangement and thought great picture and taken it just as you have. Now looking at it, Im thinking great humour picture what if I just draw the rest of the face in the sand might just add another element to it. Some pictures need a little making. LOL :0)

Gee... Always hard to do this, as never really sure what other choices the photographer had at the time. All three are kind of neat, and show that you are exploring different viewpoints and the capabilities of your materials. I think in #1 the hillside is maybe less interesting than it could be. Maybe if the sun was a bit lower in the sky there would be more texture in the hill (and modeling of the building planes). Guess you could consider cropping in a little tighter? In #2, you've chosen an angle of light that should bring out the textures pretty well, and emphasize the "face" similarity. The type of detail in #2 is usually most effective if the focus is extremely sharp. You are using a really fast film, so it is likely not motion blur? Maybe your scanner is out of focus? #3 is the most powerful image. Good composition with the figure on the beach, and sparkly water. Interesting sky. A pet peeve of mine is the slanty horizon. This can be fixed in photoshop. What I like most about this one is the dynamics of the water. Reminds me somewhat of Ansel Adams' "Big Sur" series. I really would not change much what you have done here, as I really like your original composition. But you should always explore different angles and details. Ever-changing water and sunlight.

I like #3 the most, but I have the same pet peeve as Misha on this one. I still do it myself at times and it drives me crazy (luckily, PS saves the day with a slight rotation). What I like most about the photo is how insignificant the figure looks in front of mother nature. There's a realy quiet solitude to this. Did notice that it looks like you got a little lens flare up in the sky. Do you use a lens hood? Or is it the scan that did that? -=>Donald

#3 is excellent!! Like Misha and Donald I would fix the slanted horizon just a bit....wouldn't change anything else!

hi, thanks for your feedback... @mysnapz...yes the stones are as i found them...the thing is though i only noticed the face after i scanned the image and was cropping it...aah well something to remember for next time. @misha...no.1 is a less interesting picture to me now that i've looked at it for a while...i think you're correct the expanse of green does detract from the house. i've modified no.3 to correct the horizon... thanks

@dholman...no not the scan...need to get a lens hood amongst other things... just noticed that the picture does not looked corrected but i did correct it (i swear, honest i did...lol) and change the duotone colours which has now created a halo around the peninsular.

It still looks slanted, but must be an illiusion... Checks out OK with the grid. [Useful... under the view menue in photoshop.]

yep did the grid thing and it looks ok...remove the grid and it looks slanted :-( ....oh well....maybe i'll give it more of an angle to overcome thae illusion. thanks
