I've worked on this the whole week-end and could not figure a workout. This is Ultrasalon Princess Hair. I really like it and it was rendering fine with Poser 4. In Poser 5 it turns to a checkered mess. The lights are my default light which I use on other models with the same settings and without any problem. The texture is exactly the same as it was and doesn't have any checkered pattern (the same goes for the transparency map). The only thing I could figure is that the checkered pattern follows exactly the polygon's pattern. What can cause this ? And has anyone an idea to work around this ? Thanks in advance for your help. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that there are some inverted normals on some of the polys...

This look like double sided polygons. P5 does not like that. The work around: Apply the texture as a displacment map with a very low displacment strength (e.g. 0.0001). Stefan

What causes the "pixie dust" spots on the ear?

Glad to help. And at some time I will learn to always use a spellchecker. stefan

Mateo : these are probably a self shadowing. Nothing to worry about, I'll just set the min shadow bias to a higher value and that's it. Compiler
