Currently a story is being written at the writers forum. It will take about 10 days to develop and is being conspired by several artists at renderosity. Each person is taking a part to tell the tale (a very serious one) You are invited to c'mon over and read the ongoing developments as they ensue. A seperate comment thread is available and we still need a few players...sweet pea and olive oil. Will be at chat at 6 and 1030pm est to discuss story and posting order. Enjoy. Here is a wip of the Congressman's door I rendered in Vue. Not particularly happy with the wood texture on the door or the "bone" of the wall either. And there seems to be no shadow cast from the doorknob, so it looks like a circle painted on the door. Any ideas? Modeled in Wings3D and slapped a frame around it in PSP. jon

I'm gonna get the Congrssmans pic tonight and post it over ta 2d forum a little artwork might help got Popeye and Pappy too but unfortunately Pappy has gone to meet his reward. Should let your Con conspritor know about this too Jon.

I am trying for the effect of a shadow falling on bumpy translucnet glass from the office behind the door. The shadow seems to be OK in the little preview window, but it barely shows up at all in the render. Any suggestions? I tried to cut up the Vue interface enough to show all the relevant parts while making the image size reasonable and legible. Hope it's clear. jon

why don't you try lowering your backlight vertically so that it shines more from about a 330 degree angle. I think its reflection off of your diffusion grating that's causing the trouble. Could cut down on the refractive index on the glass material to to let more of the reflection pass through instead of bouncing back towards the light.

For your wood texture (of the door) have a look in our FAQ. There you find links to free textures. From there you should retain especially the URL abopve, but the others are great also:-)
