It will have more face morphs
And I am looking for ideas on what to include in this package?
Sword? Axe?
Package so far contains horns prop
Face morph.
One muscular body morph.

He sort of looks like the demon in Legend! Sweet. Now... to get my hands on that gown for Vic...

What should go with a devil? A pitchfork and a posable tail with a point on it. This one is classic. If he's half what your werewolf and pigman are, he's going to be great. Nice job!

Hooves instead of feet. Flaming sword. Septere of some kind. just some sugjestions.

A good version of the Legend gown is at 3d arena. I would be interested in this demon figure with a good texture-- one that wasn't all one color, that had some subtlety. Especially around the eyes and mouth. Emily

I can practically hear Tim Curry's voice now.
GraphicFoxx posted Wed, 22 January 2003 at 3:21 PM
You gotta make a Unicorn prop to include with this figure! I agree with MachineClaw. Make some hooves for him. Would look alot better.
jeweldragon posted Wed, 22 January 2003 at 4:57 PM

I agree about the Hooves/texture/Sword of some kind/alicorn props, Maybe even that sparkley black wrap he wears in the movie... I've seen this really cool new minotaur in the MP. If his legs were like that it would be perfect. I've seen some awesome eye textures from here that would suit him really well. I am excited to hear you plan on making some of the other characters as well, It will make what I plan on doing Sooo Much simpler^_^ I'll post these with a link on my fan site for sure. Thanks. Its good to see other Legend fans out there. I am glad your making use of my huge Legend gallery...If you need some other shoots when you start work on the other characters I'll be there for sure, heck I'd help you with the textures if I knew how to put the together^_^ I update my site on the last day of the month each month. So there is always something new. Wheeee! I am just to darn excited for this to come out^_^n0s4ra2 posted Wed, 22 January 2003 at 5:31 PM
Thanks for all the input I morphed this from memory
I now have some good pics to go by
So I will work on it tonight
Little_Dragon that is the best pic I have seen of him thank you
pdxjims I am happy you like my other characters thanks for your purchase of my werewolf
As far as the texture I have not got to ask Rawnrr about texturing this one yet. Rawnrr are you out there?
Instead of Hooves which I know he needs I may let him go out with out them for a low price and give the hooves away later
My original plan was to do 2 or 3 devil faces and not so much a legend type
But I have always want to create all the cast from the movie
Unicorn prop is a must (I have a render of him chewing on one lol)
On the eyes slant, mikes morphs will do this I hope
When I morph I try not to redo any of mikes morphs, such as the wolfs ears are way up so when I did the morph his ears are down then the mor pose sets them
I want to do the hooves, I can model them and joint them but have no clue on how to make a more pose, spawn them
Any info or tutorials would be appreciated
Thanks to every one for their input

"Instead of Hooves which I know he needs I may let him go out with out them for a low price and give the hooves away later" I take this to indicate that you are considering putting this in the marketplace. That could create some serious problems regarding copyright violations, as the character of Darkness is very distinctive. I don't remember which major conglomerate produced Legend, but I guarantee they'd create havoc if they got wind of you selling this character. On a happier note, you've done a great job with this...definitely superior morph work!

hmmm...did I hear my name? Yeah...sure I will get right on making some textures. I feel like I fell off the planet lately, so this would do good to get me back :) Rawnrr
RawArt posted Wed, 22 January 2003 at 6:19 PM
ummm....there wont be any copyright violation unless you perhaps think of calling him by the same name as the movie character.....any close resemblance will not violate....Lord knows this type of devil image has been propigated for a long time before the Legend movie.
ChromeTiger posted Thu, 23 January 2003 at 3:52 AM
Propigated, yes, most certainly...but not sold. There's a distinct difference between the two. Let me give you an example:
DC Comics owns the copyrights on each and every one of their characters. Someone comes along and creates a Poser version of a Superman look-alike (gee, like that's ever happened). Joe PoserGuy is real proud of his work, and puts it up in Free Stuff for everyone to use and enjoy in creating their own Superman-type images.
Does DC care? Not really, as long as none of the images blatantly go against what Superman would normally be written as doing (sex scenes or the like would likely be frowned upon, and a request issued for the image to be removed).
Now, same example, but Joe PoserGuy puts his Superman Look-alike in the Marketplace for 10 bucks, for everyone to purchase and use in creating their own Superman-type images.
Does DC care? Damn right they do, and they'll slap you with a C&D Order (Cease & Desist) before you can say Son of Krypton. Why? Because Superman belongs to them, and copyright law states that you cannot use a distinctive likeness to generate revenue, without proper licensing from the copyright holder.
In other words, they want their cut.
Please note: 'distinctive likeness'. That means if it looks like Darkness, in any form or fashion that can be duly shown and proven beyond reasonable doubt, to the copyright holder it is Darkness...and therefore falls under copyright protection.
One more example: At one point, right here in the Renderosity Marketplace, there was release a 'Cyborg Queen' package for Poser. Try and find it now...you won't.
Why? Because it was a recreation (and a damn good one at that) of the Borg Queen from Star Trek: First Contact. And Paramount is fiercely protective of its copyrights, including the 'distinctive likeness' of the Borg Queen, and anything else relating to Star Trek. They were at one point so protective that they tried to shut down many fan-based websites...only due to public uproar did they reverse that decision...but they still watch every site very closely.
In closing: Give it away, it's fantastic work...but for your own protection, don't sell it, unless and until you have gotten permission in hard copy writing from the holder of the copyrights on the movie 'Legend' (Universal Pictures). Even Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn) had to secure licensing before producing the Movie Maniacs figure of Darkness...a digital version would be no different.
Hope this clears up the issue of copyright violation in regards to free vs. for sale. I offer the info for your own awareness, and to help avoid a potential problem. I work in the comic industry, and one of my partners is a contract & copyright lawyer.
RawArt posted Thu, 23 January 2003 at 6:03 AM
I think you seem to have missed the point that a red-skinned, horned headed devil character has been around long before the Legend movie ever was even thought of. The Christian church would then hold the patent on that....perhaps he should contact the Pope as well? If this is marketed as a "devil" character there is no problem. Styles may be similar in design without infinging on copyrights. You will note that there are already distinct and obvious differences between this character and the Legend one, as noted with the legs and feet / hooved or human. There is no need to clarify and issue which is obviously already clear.

Months ago before my pc was lost I was working on the dark one from legend
After loosing the info on that hard drive, I decide to just create a devil pack
This was the first face morph to be in the pack.
I am sure when I was morphing this one the dark morph that was lost was in my mind.
But until yesterday I had not looked at a pic to make him try and look like the dark one again.
(This has no barring on the new conversation here I just want to state this)
To ChromeTiger I see your point, and I thank you for caring if I get in to problems over this, and going threw the trouble to state your advice here
The one question I have is there are other merchants, who have done very close proximity to characters and used at least part of the name of the person or characters, how was this ok?
I am not trying to start a confrontation with other merchants or anyone for that matter.
I just dont think this is that big of deal seeing this was only meant to be one face morph in a devil pack? And at the time it was just loosely based on him.
I would like to hear more on this subject if anyone wants to post or send me a private message to help me make the right decision.
And even better yet stop me from ending up in this same situation in the future
Like I said please no heated debates, I just need advice
And I am not here to cause problems
I dont have a problem with free stuff either, I only have merchant items to pay for my new hobby here and my 3d software.
(I have deleted some of the first pics so load time on this page wont be horrible)

Ya know.....if you provide a couple of horns in the package, it would all be a mute point as to his looks, because then he could be build any of a number of ways. just a thought Rawnrr
