hello i'm designing a book, with a front, and i was wondering: the front will be fullcolor, so what would be the dpi or ppi? or maybe this is a better question: it will be an image rendered with lightwave, what dimentions do i have to give it for an A5 format? (well 2X A5 because the front and the back is 1 image...) i hope anyone can help me because i don't have much expririence with this, because most of the work i make is for the web... thanks! stef

retro would be the man to ask, but if I were doing it, and I refused to seek advice, I'd render at A5 x2, plus the length of the folding between the two, and render at 300 ppi, if not more, for a 300 dpi printout. as for A5 format... i dunno what the dimensions are, but it wouldn't take more than a minute or two to search up and find out.

A little off topic here, but apparently you can print at 150 dpi and still get the same visual quality as you would at 300 dpi.

Stef, the best thing to do is to talk with the Printer person who will be outputing your artwork. As Grim mentioned, you may be able to get by with a lower resolution if the actual printer handles it well enough.
Do you have someone in mind or a type of print output?
Some print shops are able to go to press right from digital so that may be something to look into...
let us know how this progresses, or if you have more questions...

no, it's for a book of my uncle and he is still looking for a printshop... but i'm just doing it at 300 dpi so that would be enough :) thanks for helping! stef
