Does it work with the firewall turned off? If so, you can install zone alarm instead, which is a better firewall IMO, and it's free. later jbdirk5027 posted Fri, 24 January 2003 at 4:43 PM
it worked for a while then froze and seemed slower, just wondering if having the cable connection is sucking up memory

I have cable connection and I use zonealarm with no problems. the XP firwall only catches incoming traffic it doesn't get the outgoing traffic so I have it turn off. ZA lets you block anything you dont want to access the internet. and its free...

The "cable connection" is not "sucking" any memory. The "connection" doesn't use any memory at all. Your data transfer reate (with programs that use the connection) will be increased. You may have to disable your XP firewall settings to let Poser do its thing. People have been using P5 and Windows XP and RoadRunner just fine for a long time. If turning off your firewall doesn't solve it, then you may have found yet another bug in Poser 5.
