Ive finally managed to get a poser animation combined with a max scene into w3d format in Director. There may be other ways to do it but I think (fingers and toes crossed) I have got round the problem. I exported my landscape from Max as w3d, and exported a low rez character (which I boned in Poser) from Poser to w3d as a separate file, then added the animation and exported another w3d file from Poser with the animations I need. Imported all the w3d files into Director. Put all the w3d cast members in the first frame, (so they all load into the movie) Set up a script to check they are loaded fully. Then I used "clone model from Cast member" to fetch the character model from the first Poser w3d file into the landscape, then I used "clone motion from cast member" to transfer the motions from the 2nd Poser w3d file to the figure I just brought in. The Poser exporter doesnt bring the figure in as expected, it needs to be rotated as is lying down. Also the figures from Poser are split into 7 separate parts and each part has a coresponding motion. Once all the models and figures are cloned and the correct motions applied to the relevant part of the figure the little guy actually walked! If you want to do this Id recomend getting the 3DPI Xtra so you can see the model and motion names in the w3d file, I couldnt have done it with out it. Thanks to everyone who has made suggestions to the answer to this problem. Well thats it for work for me today as its nearly 9.30 pm here, I think I deserve some playtime and Im going to take it.
