Good Day! I am still new to Renderosity, so maybe I have not learned this yet..but.... I was curious as to something I have noticed. I have seen pieces that get high viewing stats.....but no comments. A fellow artist was looking over the galleries and noticed this as well. We are curious..why is that? {P.S. this is not just in poser gallery but that is the one I mainly look in}

so many images, so little time
DarkElegance posted Mon, 27 January 2003 at 2:09 PM
~smiles~ good points! It was just something we noticed that pieces that have had hundreds of viewing had no comments or only one or two. I do try to make comments. But you are right Aleks. I dont always do it myself. I guess that is part of the question too. LOL.

The only ones that get comments are the "Naked Vicky in a Tample Images"...lol...:O
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

I usually comment if there is something to say. If the pic is nice but that's about it, if I've already said nice about fifty times, maybe I won't say anything. If there's something off in the picture, but I don't know quite what it is, I probably won't say anything because I can't help. However, if it's a really great picture- or even a really nice picture and no comments at all!!! I'll go out of my way to say something. I don't want people with talent to give up. Actualy the plain sexy ones with not much else to recommend them seem to get the most hits without comment. Emily

I agree with Queri, like I said "Naked Vicky in a Tample Images"...Don't get me wrong I love the female form, but when people almost always post "Naked Vicky in a Tample Images" it gets boring after some time.
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

For some what is there left to say but -- it looks blandly pretty without obvious flaws just like the other ones in your gallery. Passion in the render will usually engage some passion in the viewer. Still new people get less comments almost by rote. Emily

Ok what do you mean by "it looks blandly pretty without obvious flaws just like the other ones in your gallery." comment Huh?
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

Since this is entirely hypothetical, I'll tell you what I mean. I smell stagnant creativity in a very deep rut and I don't know how to even tell you you're in it let alone how to help you out of it. I know it cause I have been there. Pretty and safe with no intensity and little artistic content. Emily

Pretty and safe addendum: Everybody does em, even artists of the year. There are days when pretty and safe is all you can do. Emily

Actually I've been working on other things lately, hopefully I will post something new in the near future, I'm still working on how to mix two mediums efectively, my illustrations and poser that is, and i'm also learning how to use other 3D apps. Thank You Very Much....>O
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

O.O blandly pretty? stagnant? Some of the art that I have seen with no comments can not be described as such. not new work ..work that has been here. and sometimes well heck you have to give the brain a slow down and do something that is just pretty. It is hard trying to be unique all the time LOL. Besides dont we all sometimes just render to ...render?

I agree with you Dark, I'm a Graphic Designer and I often have 2 or 3 jobs at a time, I can't be creative all the time,and anyway poser is just a hobby for me right now , somethng I do to wind down after a hard days work, so my work may not be great so what, this is something I'll learn a little at a time and some day I'll be great at it.
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

galactron22, i don't believe queri was targeting your work specifically. just didn't want you to lose any sleep. ;)
Valandar posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 12:42 AM
Yannow, the one pic of mine with the most comments (33) has no vickis, no temples, no swords, and nobody's naked. It just has three kobolds clambering over an oger with a fourth on the ground, yelling for help...
Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

Not targetting my work Huh?...Read the following statements by query "For some what is there left to say but -- it looks blandly pretty without obvious flaws just like the other ones in your gallery." reffering to me personally, or "I smell stagnant creativity in a very deep rut and I don't know how to even tell you you're in it let alone how to help you out of it." If you read this statements, wouldn't you take it personal,and besides we were the only ones posting messages at the time.

So anyway....With the current situation in Venezuela and Iraq, do you guys think well be paying more for gas?
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.
DarkElegance posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 1:24 AM
I do not want to pay more for gas! my god it is almost to the point of having to get gas gift ceritficates for presents!o.o anywho...Naked does not equal comments. lol nor does it equal how many look at it. and actually galactron I thought that had been directed at me :S. we both apparently took it to heart lol. Still...when you work in art..and you are creating day in and day out it is hard to suddenly come up with that inspiration to do something that is really wow. You have deadlines..and pressure and you have people going .."no not like that I need it this way..:" and when you wind down you sometimes want a no brainer. or you want to do something just for personal pleasure. Like I said in another thread ..I rarely see bad pictures in here. I see alot of work put into pieces. I mean dont we all do "fluff" pieces? {ya know the ones just to put something up}

DarkElegance you are a woman of great talent, and if the comment was directed towards you I don't agree, Your work is wonderfull, and it is true, out side of work I love to dumb it down, so my stuff is simple, I may only get a few comments but they're all good comments, and that's what counts. And I agree gas is getting too expensive.
By the way...did you take a look at my gallery?
Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

I cant do anime to save my life! and I cant see how you took it as directed to you either! and See no big nekkidness and you have huge amount of viewings and comments. so naked doesnt equall viewings. and side note....Nothing wrong with nakedness...really there isnt. I am just in the bald naked woman thing...LOL.

My most viewed piece is tied for the most comments with other less viewed pieces. The most viewed piece is... drumroll... a naked Stephanie in a temple! And, it was my first upload to the Poser gallery, playing with CastleDev's wonderful models. Its not a bad rendering, though I've made much better ones by now. It was my first time remapping a poser texture for another figure. I didn't want to use Victoria so I ended up making a texture out of Anton's Egyptians textures to work with Stephanie. She's pretty cute, and the texture is superb. I really should use it more. However, I have other pieces that are just as commented and less viewed. For example, my Sanctuary render in the Carrara/RDS gallery. No naked Vickies, no humans at all in fact. Its a greek temple and I was experimenting with creating realistic water shaders and fog effects, plus settings for the GI renderer in Carrara 2. The render is nearly photographic. I have even better artworks that I have posted to Mixed Media and 2d galleries, which have not gotten nearly the amount of hits or comments. But the comments I have gotten there I treasure a lot. And of course, I can't forget to mention my PORNO render with an amazing amount of pageviews (because I wrote Porno on the thumbnail... lol), which of course features a fully clothed Vickie rendered on top a photograph featuring the fully naked Baby Jesus in a fresco of the Nativity from a castle courtyard, complete with Baby Cherub fountain with genitals in the center of said courtyard. its a castle about an hour from where I live, and just proving a point that nudity (even child nudity) can most surely be art, too. But the pornography obsessed minds around here often fail to see this fact. g and if you feel that there's not enough torture in my gallery, I have a lovely photograph of a historic church in Northern Bavaria featuring a splendid sculpture of a crucifixion for you all. lol

I was not referring to you in particular.I can't remember ever seeing your gallery. In fact, I made a point of not checking out your gallery before I made the post. We were talking about comments I would like to make in certain galleries, but never do. And you asked me-- I htought-- what I would mean by such a post. I told you. But I never made that post or any other post like it about any of your pictures-- or for that matter anybody else's. By the way, I agree DarkElegance, there are times when pretty is all I can manage-- and on a lousy day, making something pretty can feel rather good. Emily

NO no flame war...NO....bad very bad... ANywayyyyyyyy... I had noticed this not just in poser galleries. But in others. just poser is where I look the most. It just struck me as curious, I mean I see some really great peices but lil or no views or lil or no comments. I was just curiouse as to why this happened. ~smiles~ Perhaps we can get Renderosity to open a gallery section for naked woman in temples. lol. They are popular and that way we can see how others percieve the naked temple dieties! :) {and thank you to snowsultan for the great Temple of Nehkehdnez for such inspiration! I still love that piece lol} OHh and here is an example of what I am talking about... http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=317723&Start=1&Sectionid=0&Form.Search=snowsultan&Form.Criteria=ALL It has beautiful lighting, and {not trying to be vulgar} some of the best breasts I have seen on a poser model they look natural not like hooter saluters. it has huge amount of hits but ..well it didnt have comments till just abit ago. {disclaimer: artist has nothing against hooter saluters the above statement was to only show opinion of natural looking breasts as opposed to barbie like perfect conical shaped appendages. artist has used and will probably use again said barbie like appendages in future:)on her models}
