Interesting. But it is very difficult to read the text at first. If this were a logo for a business, you would want it to be clearly readable.

Just a friendly warning before you go to far.... I read about this "contest" on another board and I'm quite sure that the guy who asked for this is a phony and that there is no prize. He's just trying to get you to do work for him for free. If I were you I'd give him nothing. On the other board the guy wrote this: FIRST POST "Hey I went out to find some graphic websites. I have a contest going the winner will get a $100 gift certificate to one of 5 stores. (Electroincs, Audio, Auto, Computer Supplys etc.) Here is what I need: I need a graphic for my company: FMC Properties LLC. This is a real estate company. I need a new logo for professional letterhead etc. Can be color or black and white. In designing keep in mind its for a realestate company and for professional and business use. Please make sure content and images are appropriate. Please email graphics to: mattm@canadiancaraudio.com Also once I choose the logo I will contiune to hire that person from then on to design my logos and possibly a website." SECOND POST "Please dont count this as spam....I just need some help from people that know what there doing, like you guys Hey I went out to find some graphic websites. I need some help. Here is what I need: I need a graphic for my company: FMC Properties LLC. This is a real estate company. I need a new logo for professional letterhead etc. Can be color or black and white. In designing keep in mind its for a realestate company and for professional and business use. Please make sure content and images are appropriate. Please email graphics to: mattm@canadiancaraudio.com THANKS SO MUCH! There might be a prize involved too" In two postings he changed it from a definite prize to, maybe a prize. And in another posting in a different section of the board the guy claimed that it was for his dads company. After people caught on to him he started to delete all his messages to cover his tracks. Either way when somone asks you for a logo to be used on a professional letterhead the only "prize" you should except from them is CASH.

well, we'll see what happens. It only took like an hour of my time, so it's no biggie, and I'd been wanting to try something for a while that I used here. I needed practice on my 2D graphics anyway. Though I am rather desperate for money. I only saw the one where he said there was a $100 prize. It ain't money, but if it comes through, well, it's something.

Well, that being the case, it's still way too busy. The background is too pronunced and the letters are jaggy. The drop shadow (especially in the word "properties") and the color gradient and that shingle roof pattern have to go. A logo has to be able to be reproduced in 2 colors. So far, this one can not.

A logo has to be able to be reproduced in 2 colors. So far, this one can not. Not necessarily, but it's always good to have a 2-colour variant, as well as a black-and-white variant, along with the 4-colour. It's also good to have at least a plan for the 3-dimensional variant, especially with bigger companies that like to contract big shiny chrome or gold ones to stick on their walls.

As for my critique (please understand this is only critique, not flame or insult): the floorplan behind the letters is obscure and doesn't translate well -- it doesn't carry any message even keeping the floorplan, the fact that there's a visible toilet (even in floorplan sybmols) is probably undesirable I'd recommend breaking the circle. The letters appear trapped. No offense again, but the zoom-away letters are, frankly, cheesy. This sort of design would work well for a comic book shop or even a movie or imprint or record label, but not a 'serious and sincere' real-estate firm. Is that Times?
