ok... no-one liked my last question :( can i try again and make it sound much more fun and exciting... and understandable??? :) if i'm using RGB on screen and want to a. print out a passable proof on epson640inkjet and then b. hand to an offset/litho printer for outputting, do i have to assign profiles etc or is converting to CMYK enough? at the moment the IJ image is washed out and light effects/bevels etc hardly register. i've trawled posts in the archive and someone said they do that - working in RGB but keeping the CMYK preview open... how d'ya do that? and before anyone says it, yes i do have a manual, but am really having trouble identifying and isolating the specific info i really need to learn and use, out of the masses of technical stuff anddon't want to foul up an image by doing stuff i don't (yet!) understand. big thanks, soozie

To work in RGB with CMYK preview open: with RGB image open, choose Window/Documents/New Window...then choose View/Proof Setup/Working CMYK...finally choose View/Proof Colors Hope it helps. - Bjorn

We have a very helpful printing forum here. Post your question there as well, if you haven't already.

btw - if you're going to print in CMYK, you should create your images in CMYK. If you need to use filters you can convert back to RGB for them, then back to CMYK. It pays off in the end.
