Went to see a friend of mine who is in a blue grass band play a gig yesterday. Took 80 pics on the old digital camera. Maybe got a few good shots, you knnow how that goes. Shoot 100, get 5 usuable pics. Anywho, looked at them in camera on the preview thingie. some hopeful images. got home, put the smart media card in the card reader.....zero....nada....zip......according to the reader, zero images.....put the card back in the camera to check, card error.....can't read images....so end result, no pictures......that loud noise you heard last night about 8:00 pm-ish was just me being very pissed off....anybody had a card fail on them? So it's save up another $80 for a 128m card......I'm so bummed....

Oooo.....never had a card fail yet....knock on wood....but I feel your pain man.....boy do I feel your pain.... :~(

Painful! Low humidity? Static electricity? Software error? Can you record new images to the card, (not that I'd particularly trust them)? Need to find out if it is the card that failed, or something in the camera. I have at times taken 45 pictures on a 36 exposure roll before catching film loading problems...

Mmmm....just a thought too...it's possible that if the camera shut down before an image is fully saved to the card it can screw up the card. If you're 100% sure that no images can be removed you can try reformatting the card in camera and see if you can still save like Misha said.

If it does turn out to be a bads card - I'd take it up with he card manufacturer (defective merchandise) - they might be willing to replace it...?

Try blowing out the card slot in the camera and the reader. And try again. I had the same thing happend once to me after blowing out the slots I was able to read the card and all pictures intact. I have had a digital camera now for nearly 3 years and shot thousands of pics and haven't had one fail. I dread the time that it happends, just as I had film lost and film processor mess up film. -Randy R

I had a card fail a few times, and when I put it back inside the camera couldnt read it... Luckily it could be reformatted and now works fin but I am saving for a bigger 1 xXxXx

Let me put my 2 cents in about the big cards. I really reccomend that you get a card that will hold 40 - 75 pictures at your shooting resoloutin. I would rather have several smaller cards, that way if a card ever does fail I do not lose all the pics. I would hate having a weeks worth of pictures lost because of card failure. Better to lose one day.

...agreed with randy. I bought one 128M and gonna get another one too. I figured getting one bigger, even microdrive perhaps, but came to my senses and gonna get two smaller. And my card, don't remember the manufacturer but it was cheap brand, got lifetime quarantee. I suggest you to send it back, just to be sure that doesn't happen again. .n

This happened once on my 'emergency' 16mb card (a Fuji one, no less), thankfully didn't lose any pics - did a format on the card and it's been fine since. I put it down to the cold & v.damp conditions I was in at the time.... plus the condensation factor of taking the card out as soon as I got home & putting it into the reader.... v.cold > v.hot conditions...condensation on the card? Dunno... Sorry about the pics, bud. (",)
