If you really love her, buy her a house for valentines day. lovers retreat, honeymoon cottage, small estate house. This model is extreemly versatile in it's ability to fit nearly anywhere. In a lonely grove or on a busy street. Put it in a meadow or set it on a hill. The classic design assures that it will fit into your sceens and make an attractive focal point or complimentary subject. Sweetwood is based on a Valentines theme but can used in many other scenarios.ironhart posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 1:15 PM

I wondered if I was going blind or something yesterday when I clicked the banner and didn't see it. :) That looks great.

Sorry about that Kendra. The banner ads usually take a day or two and I anticipated the release by about a day. In fact, it would have been out yesterday but the nut that packaged it forgot a texture for the back window of the carriage house. I hope you like it.

Also here is a pic by linwhite just entered into the Vue gallery.
ironhart posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 3:28 PM
Thank you Pendy, and by the way. The house will be at the introductory price of 10 bucks for a short time.
dialyn posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 8:58 PM
Well, I got mine. I just wish I could shrink myself down to live in it. It's a wonderful house. Thank you!
Kendra posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 8:59 PM
Ironhart, do you mind me asking how long it will be at $10? And what will it be after the introductory?
Thanks!
...... Kendra
ironhart posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 9:40 PM
Kendra, it will go to $14.00 after the introductory period which I base on sales and time. It will stay on sale at least till wednesday. generally speeking the first 20 or 30 customers get an item at the introductory price. Though this isn't set in stone. If I put an item in at a weird time of the month, I will usually leave it at the low price till the 1st, or the 15th, so people can get it. since this is the 2nd, it will be shorter than usual. the same hapened with my last house the tudor shoppe.

Dialyn, thank you! I hope you do some great pics with it. I know you will.

Ok, thanks for this info. At least I know I don't have to hurry and get it tonight. (dial up is such a pain when I have photoshop and poser going) :)

Grabbed it earlier today already :) Was about to install and see you put the .obj in with the .cr2. Any special reason for this? It's non-standard procedure and adds to my installation time to put them in geometries and change the references in the cr2. I just like things to be consistent...play too much in my directories and there's always a chance the .obj could get lost. Love this one so much and the addition of the carriage house makes it so special. Can't wait to have some time to play with it!
ironhart posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 1:34 PM
Spit, I assume that you are talking about setting the files up for a mac or that you are making this work in something other than poser. So, the answer is simply that I have no idea why you want to move the files and therefore there was no real reason for putting them where they were except that they were created there. Where if I put the obj in the geometries folder I go through all the steps you are talking about and chances are that I will screw it up. so, since I didn't know it made a difference to anyone and since it is easier to put the obj. with the CR2 and it is neater that way, then that is how I have been doing it lately. Renderosity is making it harder for packaging all the time and the fact is if I sold 500 of each model, I still wouldn't get paid for the model, I'd still be be getting paid for the import and packaging time. but perhaps I can find an alternative solution. I am already considering regrouping the models for vue, which will be additional import and packaging time. I'm just not a big company with employees to do this stuff and it is costing me development time. bottom line is "I don't know" I'll see what I can do in the future. I am definately sorry for any inconvenence. I am happy that you like it. thank you.

You're making me feel guilty I paid the "sale" price. I've seen a lot lower quality models than yours (or at least models I felt included a less detail and variety) costing a lot more. I sure hope the models sell well so you can recoup some of your investment of time and effort. They are wonderful creations.
Spit posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 2:56 PM
I'm sorry I upset you, Ironhart. It's no big deal, I can (and do) do it myself. I assume, then, that you're making them with ProPack which puts the .obj with the .cr2. This has made it inconvenient for a lot of vendors so I understand. I bet I have more of his models than you, Dialyn :: unless you have every single one. Oh, I think there's one very very old prop I don't have. But otherwise I've purchased them all. I don't think there's any other vendor I can say that about.
dialyn posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 2:59 PM
No, I don't have them all, Spit. You have me beat by a long shot. But I treasure the ones I have. :)
ironhart posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 3:21 PM
Spit, I'm not upset at all. I just don't know what to do short of making several packages for each model which will increase my production time and not gain me that much in sales. I have to draw the line at some point or increase the price substantially which in turn makes them less attractive to the masses. I am thinking on it, but I don't know if there is a simple answer. bottom line is I want every customer to be happy . I don't want the item to be a hassle for you to install but I also have to make sure that it is easy enough from my end to keep them at a fair (good)price

I'm a bit confused. Is this model for Poser? Poser does not seem like a very practical program for final scene composition and rendering. My first instinct would be to place this building into something like Bryce, where it can sit on a proper terrain, with plants, fog and atmosphere. So to get this into Bryce, let's say, will all the textures need to be manually retextured one by one?

Chuck Evans did this lovely graphic in Vue using one of Ironhart's models. I don't know why they couldn't be used in Bryce as well. I love this graphic anyway. The more you look at it, the more you'll see. :)Spit posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 12:08 PM

I use his models in Bryce, Max. Here is one I did using mainly Bryce materials. The latest version of Grouper (after I did this picture) will copy all the required textures to one folder and Bryce will load 'em right up. Still need to work on transparencies.Spit posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 12:10 PM
Oh, yes, I fell in love with Chuck's picture the moment I saw it!
dialyn posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 12:13 PM
That's gorgeous, Spit! So charming...the graphic is a beautiful rendering of the model. Thank you for posting the link. :)
Spit posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 12:13 PM
I hate it when I hit the button too soon. Sigh. Ironhart? I don't use a Mac or anything and install in regular old ProPack. I think you were wondering.
Spit posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 12:17 PM
Thanks, Dialyn! I'm hoping to make the time to do some more.
dialyn posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 12:22 PM
Oh, I hope you do.
ironhart posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 2:12 PM
Jeeze I go to sleep for a few hours and you guys write a book! Max the model is set up poser ready. many people import to bryce, vue and other programs. The most popular other than poser seems to be Vue. Thanks Spit and Dialyn for the links to some fine examples. Spit are you moving the Obj around for Bryce? I am just curious, I don't know how to import to any of the other programs. I hope my ignorance and lack of experience in these areas isn't costing me sales and if I can set stuff up a particular way to make it more universal, then I suppose I should. but first I have to learn what to do and what is needed.
Spit posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 3:46 PM
No...nothing special for Bryce. It's just that 99% of the .obj files go into geometries rather than with the cr2 and I was just thinking of consistency. It doesn't hurt anything unless one has a habit of renaming folders and moving things around which I've had to do in spades because I have waaaaaay too much installed. LOL Honestly, most people won't even notice and it certainly shouldn't hurt sales at all the way you do it.
