Oh, I am so glad that you got this up while I was still at work and on a T1 connection. 3 pts. - eelie 2 pts. - dan whiteside 1 pt. - draculaz As usual, this month was hard to judge due to the number of entries, so I found myself being more critical than in past months. In my opinion, there were a few truly excellent renders that had little if anything to do with the topic, or stretched the topic just a bit too far. A few others were close - good ideas, layout, texturing - but had some element that was just a bit "off", and were eliminated. After all that, and keeping in mind that this was just my opinion and others will certainly disagree, I scrapped all of my calculations, threw three darts and came up with these results. well, not quite :o) Great job, EVERYONE!!

This was a really hard descision, there are so many deserving artists but the ones that really shined were DryFly, Linkinpark and Eelie. I had to keep going back and forth making descisions on which was better, and they were all the same. Each of you made a wonderful piece that was as good as the others. So the last thing to do was to pick which image best represented the theme... 3 points for Eelie 2 points for DryFly 1 point for Linkinpark Excellent job all you and I wish you the best of luck!

Well, being new, I don't know that I feel I should throw in my two cents worth, but that's never stopped me before. :o) I'm torn both ways...I know how I'd feel if it were me who's picture had been left out. But, I also know I have a responsibility to check the list of names to make sure mine's on it. What sways me in this is simply that February is a short month and if there's to be another challenge issued, a re-vote will simply shorten the work time. Some, like me, need all the time they can get! :o) Would it be acceptable to have a second vote that would only determine honorable mention? I've not seen a precedent to that in past posts but it seems that the group is always willing to come up with something that's fair and accomodating.

While is must be really galling to find that your work has been missed out - I'm one of them - it has to be said that AS does this on his own time and (I presume) for no monetary gain. If he screws up now and again that's the breaks. An apology is called for and has I understand been given. I can't see that anything further would achieve anything. Unless perhaps Sparr would accept the chance of deciding a future challenge on a month to be decided by those concerned. The Bryster

Aldaron posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 10:37 PM

Well I think AS is doing a great job and sometimes mistakes happen but it shouldn't all be on his shoulders. People need to check to make sure their entry is there. AS makes a post on when the challenge will end (eveyone knows it's the end of the month) then he posts a list of names he has for the entries and if you don't check that list and tell him you aren't on it then you lose out. Just my opinion. Sounds harsh but AS does do this as a favor on his own free time, we should do everything to help him have it run smooth.

Zhann posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 11:36 PM

All the new people to this forum should make sure that in the main forum, that the 'E-mail on post' is marked 'yes', up near the top under the Bryce forum header this makes sure you don't miss the name check thread and the voting thread (and all the new posts)...with the amount of posting in here it is easy to overlook one thread or another, but this will make sure you know where to go and when. That being said, Agent Smith does his best to notify everyone, however, maybe with this growing challenge a special thread to post 'Final' works may be in order, that way AS can overlook all the WIPs and go to only one place to find our final works, that makes it our responsiblity to post there, instead of AS's to sort through all the WIPs and pseudo-finals to find everyone...just a thought

AgentSmith posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 12:15 AM

frndofyaweh, I have done multiple searches in the Bryce forum, out of 8 posts in 5 months, I see no post of yours with a challenge entry, sorry. I have asked for a contest space in which everyone themselves would upload to every month, at the end of the month I would collect all the pics, and then empty it, ready for the next month. Problem is, you wouldn't be able to post any feedback on people's pics, which sucks. And, I don't think they are going to give it to me anyway. We used to upload all entry pics to one thread, that was hard for people with dial-up modems to bring up that thread to upload or vote in, since it had 2-3Mb worth of pics in it. That was 9 months ago, this months entries weighed in at 7Mb. (and that doesn't include wip's) I feel really bad that I missed anyone's entry. AgentSmith

AS - would it help to stick a link in the Bryce forum box at the top that leads to the 'check your name here' thread? You could start it at the beginning of the month and tell people to post their name (and only their name) once they have entered. By the way, you didn't include my name, but that's okay since I couldn't get myself together enough to do a challenge picture this month. :) I enjoyed everyone else's contributions and just wasted about 2 hours of work time trying to choose. After some caffeine, using all the availble windows in IE and much hand wringing, here are my votes: Draculaz: 3 Ang25: 2 BecSchm: 1 Congratulations to all who created a scene, well done! Lin

AHAAA! I'm supposed to post in a special place? I posted my image in the bryce gallery. HEHE!!! Told you you it was my fault. I don't mind, It's okay! Next time I'll read everything more carefully and be better prepared. I agree with, catlin mc: Don't fret none about a small error. Mine was my own fault. Keep on keepin' on, Agent Smith.

Well, I don't know how special a thread marked "Challenge" is, but next time you'll know to stick it in this forum. Your tree stumps are excellent, by the way. Lin
