Hey all, I was working on a scene this weekend with one V3, two Mike 2s and one V2, with stormguards, sci-fi texture pack and the AFA free stuff from lalverson and about 19 lights. Well, this file weighed in at about 150 megs or so, but I really didn't think anything of it. So, I start rendering and on my last shadow map it was about 98% done and then just quit. Ok, fine. So I re-did the scene. This time I did everything in separate parts. Each of the figures were posed individually and saved off. I re-created the room and added all of the lights and then started to load the figures one by one. Everything worked great for the first two figures. Then I decided things were taking to long, so I loaded the final 2 characters together and kicked off another render... and got the same 98% freeze issue. So, my question (I guess) is this file too big? Has anyone rendered a scene similar in size in FireFly? Thanks, ~ brent ~

What people forget, and this includes vendors, is that the size of texture maps adds signficantly to the memory requirements when rendering. The size of the project on disk does not reflect the rendering size.

Ok, that makes a lot of sense. The Poser's footprint at the time I had to shut everything down as about 1.2GB at its peak. Program usage was about 464MB (actual MEM Usage). Hmm... okay, I'll give it a try with lower res textures. Thanks!

Or just set maximum texture size to a lower amount. I'm not sure if that will help, but it's worth a shot. An image I posted here called 'The Beast Awaits' had about the same footprint. Actually, almost to a T as what you're saying yours was. Maybe I was just lucky that it finished.

I'm jealous GraphicFoxx:) I feel as if I had wasted so many hours all for not. By the way, 'The Beast Awaits' is a great pic. I great use of color and lighting!
