for a while my program was running perfectly all right...but now, every time i try to render, when it gets to the Adding Objects part, it tells me it performs an illegal operation and has to shut down i tried rendering with the poser 4 renderer...and it worked but the brand new one shuts down the program each time i try to render i tried doing a complete uninstall / reinstall...but i still have the same issue is there something wrong with my model? or is this just a technical issue that can be resolved by flipping switch X?

It could be the lights. Check your lights and see if any of them are using the displacement map shadows. Change them all to raytracing instead or turn the shadows off entirely (except for one or two lights). It's a big, obnxious bug that I hate. Hope this helps!

You are running the latest Service Release of P5, I assume? It fixes a lot of problems encountered in the initial release.

SR2.1 fixes a lot of bugs, but not the lights or memory usage (although it does improve it). Large scenes with high res textures increase the chances of lockup. I seldom have the problem with a P4 type render, but I usually lock up once a day or more in firefly. One of the best things to do is to get the everything the way you like it, and save then. Try your render and if it locks up, kill Poser, reboot, and try again with fresh memory. If it still doesn't work, start working with the lights. Save before every attempt. I've lost at least a dozen projects because I was in a hurry and didn't save (like an idiot). Has CL said anything more on SR3?

Is there an upper limit to the amount you can have in the Poser 5 folder itself?? Because I started having the multiple freeze problems after I loaded another load of cr@p into my 5 runtime. Now, I never know when my renders are gonna crash-- pretty much every couple of times-- and it can take forever on just one light. It did render though-- 1 hour to load a shadow map, this was a portrait from the face camera. So now, Im wondering, does the Poser 5 runtime have to stay lean and mean? I have Vicki3 in it and she's staying, but I can move everything not V3 related out. If they dont do anymore about cr3, Im gonna get up in arms, cause this is suddenly getting worse and worse and worse. Emily
