Hi folks,
Today we announce the immediate availability of Cognito. Cognito is a mechanical linkages choreographer for Carrara. It provides the ability to coordinate the motion of objects as if they were connected by gears, axels, or pistons, letting you control the motion of entire chains of objects with a single set of keyframes.
The Cognito page describes all the different linkages available; Axel, Cam, Radial Offset, Trip Hammer, and more. Each linkage type is demonstrated in sample files included with Cognito and you can see the QuickTime movies of the rendered samples on the Cognito page at

http://www.digitalcarversguild.com/products/cognito/

In addition to over a dozen sample files included with Cognito, there are two new tutorials to help get you up and running. The getting started with Cognito tutorial shows you how to build a music box at

http://www.digitalcarversguild.com/tutorials/cogmusicbox/

and learn how to make an elliptical orbit using Cognito at

You can download and try out Cognito at the links below.

You were just waiting for that, weren't you? Evil. Evil. Evil.

Vision... fading... can't... resist... new... plug-in...

Heh. Anyway, I've been meaning to ask, have you guys considered making a plug-in that makes bones easier to work with? One thing that was nice about Poser is that you could select the body you were working with, and then choose the part you were interested in. I've found that having even just two boned characters in a scene makes for looooong list of parts. Usually with similar names, because once I create a skeleton I like to use it over and over. Not sure what I am asking for, really, and it's entirely possible that the functionality already exists in Carrara and I have missed it.

I agree, something to make bones easier and perhaps bvh import... Meanwhile, this new plugin (like all the DCG ones) is a lot of fun and I can think of lots of possibilities, if only I had more... (movie is 324K)
