All I've seen added to Platinum this week is the very nice cotton casuals for the V3 clothes. Am I missing something? Or did we get so much mermaid and related stuff last week that we exhausted them? Sad but understandable thought. Lovin' Platinum! But wondering why they're moving all the thumbnails around. lol

The discount on V3, the makeup kits and the hair paid for my Platinum membership, since I was impatient enough to buy it at $49. It didn't have to be worth $100 to me, but it is. I buy big in sci fi and fantasy, so the space suits and the gypsys and the cyclorama and all the other goodies were just gravy. I haven't even started on the mermaids yet. They're definetly losing money on me. Sometimes you just gotta take the leap and trust. I'm not the least bit sorry. Emily

I've been very happy with the Platinum club and DAZ has made more money out of me because of it. I've bought a bunch of things I wouldn't have bought at all otherwise. The %30 discount has been great and it has been really good to pick up a some of those older items like the charger, the eagle and a bunch of items from Anton's back catalogue. I haven't bought so much of the new stuff on the other hand. I'd like to see more hair and other versatile things that almost everybody can use. The mermaid and fairy genre has a strong following but it isn't for everyone. I'll second the request for a non-glamorous Vicki 3 texture. A tough girl who looks like she's seen some weather and rough times would be good.

It seems we can get 30% off DAZ stuff without paying for the platinum club. I've noticed DAZ has very little in the way of good "scenes" stuff. Heck, most of my Poser characters have nowhere to hang out. I think it would be nice to make a package that goes together. Sell the outfits along with a scene where these folks can wear their clothes. I'm still looking for regular everyday clothes and poses for Stephanie, the Millennium Kids, and Musclebound Mike. Again, it makes no sense to pay $100 to save money when there is nothing I really want right now. I'd figured by now DAZ would have a better chance of improving that situation.
PheonixRising posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 1:05 AM
okay let's see. Roger you get an extra 30% on top of the reg 30%. Just so noone is waiting, unless someone else in the office makes it there will be no Stephanie developement for the Platinum Club. The only thing that sells worse than MilKid products is plain clothes. :) But I hear yah. I'll work on some butch stuff at some point though probably only 12 people will buy it. And I'll have to wade through all the "what's up with all the fetish butch sci-fi crap" emails. I am all for making what people want but if it doesn't sell there isn't much chance of more of it being made. Just a business thing. Basically if we make it, people have to support it if they want more of it. Otherwise not alot of chance of it getting made. Scenery is currently being expanded already. I always ask for specific lists but noone ever sends them to me. If you really want something I want a few pics of it and a description. send it to anton@daz3d.com I never do requests without pics. Actually I usually avoid requests but I am not oppose to it. But I need numbered lists and pictures. And don't post it here..use my email. Anton Merrilyn did make some great MilGirl Clothes. Did you see that?

I don't regret my Platinum purchase at all, even though I haven't bought a lot of things from it yet. I know I've saved well over the cost of it, and it's fun to see what will come out next anyway. :) I REALLY wish that some sort of clothing figures for V3 would show up in there though. Even something extremely simple would be very much appreciated, since it seems like most of the Victoria 3 clothing I've seen costs a bit more than I'd like to spend right now. But still, it's an excellent deal for the money and I look forward to all the new products that DAZ creates. Thanks, take care. SnowS

rogergordian posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 8:41 AM
Thanks for your responses, Anton. I had not clearly understood that Platinum Customers get an additional 30% off DAZ products. Perhaps the description of benefits leaves that fact unclear. I am troubled by your other responses. First, above all, you must remember it is poor business sense for a company to introduce products that it fails to support in the future. That includes the Millennium Kids and Stephanie. Your other comments concerning requests is also unsettling. It makes good sense to poll customers to better understand their needs. It doesn't make sense to make demands on your customers. A customer pays money for a product. A customer has every right to expect value and quality for his/her money. That's it. I think you need to rethink the way you interact in this public forum. You are representing yourself as a DAZ employee. With that in mind, any unprofessional conduct can reflect negatively upon DAZ's reputation.
Spit posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 9:40 AM

Crescent posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 10:38 AM
The last I checked, being upfront, honest and courteous was being professional .... Creating more items to support what sells is hardly ignoring your customers. Dropping off non-selling items is not ignoring your customers, either. It's actually listening to your clients and making what they want. It's a standard business practice. Anton isn't saying that if there's any problems with a model that was bought, DAZ will ignore the customer. He's simply saying that there won't be more add-ons for products that aren't popular. Why spend your time on a product that the majority of your clients don't like? It's not productive. Most Vicki 2 products will fit Stephanie with only a little tweaking at most. There are third party vendors making MilKid stuff. You can also contract out requests to modelers for products. As for asking for reference pictures when sending item requests, that's hardly placing unreasonable demands on customers. If you want an item created to your liking, you have to be very specific on your requirements. I'd be concerned about any modeler who offered to sell me a custom product without getting reference pictures from me. DAZ might want to look into putting up a poll on their site to get an idea of what people are looking for, but polls aren't always that accurate. I've seen lots of requests for products that don't sell well, because people decide they really didn't need the product once it does come out. Cheers!

Ditto what Crescent said. :) Roger I generally ask that people avoid offering me personal advice in the forums. I like to keep things strickly to product question and answer. I don't promise that anyone will agree or like what I sometime share but I am always honest. But I really ask that any personal advice to me directly be forwarded in email if you feel you need to share. I am sure you understand. Thanks for the advice. Anton

Well, I'm one of the happy Platinum Club members. I have zero interest in the fairy people, sci fi group, fantasy types but I have found more than enough items to make me happy. Yeah, I'm probably more interested in the "cute" stuff than I should be (good grief, everyone needs some kind of change) but even without that, I'd say I had a good return on my investment. I like modern real clothes and realistic people but I understand I'm in the minority there, but I think there's room for all of us. Now if Daz would just come up with a llama, I'd have (hardly) any complaints at all. ;)

Thinks like the Eagle and the charger for $1.99 a pop. I've no use for an eagle, but the wings are fabulous :) It actually made quite a difference to the v3 bill I can tell you that, I think it cost me $75 bucks for the lot, which is a fair bit cheaper than retail :) Good to have you back, I though they'd exiled you to poserpros, somebody posted to a very old thread last week and I got all nostalgic :) later jb

I'm so glad to see new makeup textures for V3 are coming! They are one of my favorite things about V3 and the reason why I use the V2-V3 converter to convert V3 to V2. I think I bought the Platinum membership the day it came out. I know it was the first week. I've been extremely happy with it. Being able to finally own the eagle (the savings from which almost paid for my membership) made me very happy. I was able to justify buying the hawks add-on set from the regular store to go with them. I think I've bought almost everything that's come available there. If I don't use it today, I may use it in a year or two. Please keep the goodies coming...

Hey, I got a great idea. Let's sell people stuff that we will dump, so they can waste some more of their hard earned money. Then we'll ask them to pay $100 up front in order to save money in the future. Oh, and let's not forget some folks won't find anything of interest in that very small Platinum Club collection.

If you joined months after they started it, then you would see what they had in the store already. If it didn't excite you, then why join especially if you're paying the full price?

Pardon me for wanting to get my money's worth or questioning the value of a deal (Platinum Club). Really, everyone has an opinion, wants and needs. Everyone is important. People have a right to get the full picture, both positive and negative. The best way a company can serve itself and its customers is to ask for their opinions, both positive and negative.

capsces posted Sat, 08 February 2003 at 1:23 PM
Roger, once those opinions are gathered it is in the best interest of the business and the customers for the company to cater to the opinions expressed by the majority of customers. How many companies can you name for me where they practice this differently? You know, I don't like the taste of Pepsi; but do you think they will make it taste like Coke so I'm happy? You are the only person of over 20 in this thread who has expressed dissatisfaction with the Platinum club. It appears to me the majority are happy with the Platinum Club, therefore the company must be listening to their customers. Beth
rogergordian posted Sat, 08 February 2003 at 1:38 PM
To be more accurate, I am the only one who actually posted a negative opinion on this subject. I know from experience that many folks have agreed with me on the various items discussed. You only need to view other threads in which people have asked for more stuff for the Millennium Kids, for instance. The Coke and Pepsi analogy doesn't apply here. DAZ sold us Stephanie and the Millennium Kids. It appears Stephanie and the Millennium Kids have been abandoned pretty much from the start. I suppose the only way you could compare this to Coke or Pepsi would be if the companies involved got us hooked on Coke or Pepsi and then stopped making the products? But even that analogy doesn't really compare.
capsces posted Sat, 08 February 2003 at 2:25 PM
I realize there are a few who want clothes for the kids, but they are obviously fewer than those who want other things. Why not start your own thread to see see how many want new kid clothes versus how many want new V3 clothes. Besides, to be accurate, I was stating that it appears by this thread that more people are satisfied with the Platinum club than not. Perhaps you should start a thread asking that too. Let's see what the people really think. And, my Pepsi/Coke analogy was to convey the fact that companies do not cater to the minority opinion. If they did, they would most likely not exist.
rogergordian posted Sat, 08 February 2003 at 6:42 PM
Actually, I've decided to watch the Platinum Club to see how it develops over time. For now, I feel the total quantity is still rather small, and along with that goes the inevitable percentage of what I would find of interest. If the Platinum Club goes in the same direction as "the Premier Club," then I'll never become a member. In some ways, the "regular" or Premier DAZ stuff suffers from the same problem for me. I've just reached a point where I am more selective. I'd also rather wait and see if a product would be supported over the long haul, rather than buying something when it is new. The Millennium Kids and Stephanie weren't so great in this regard. Musclebound Mike was a total waste of money. Vicky 3 is an obvious safe bet, and she already has loads of great supporting merchandise. This is a great time to just wait and see. I haven't totally given up on the Platinum Club. It's just that I don't see anything at this moment to justify my spending $100 without actually getting anything for my money except "future potential savings."
