heyas; okay, i grabbed the background in the material room, and i stuck some blue and white cloud shader on it, and plugged it all in, blah blah blah. and whatever render settings i use, the blasted background keeps coming out plain flat grey! argh! i got p4 with anti-alias, texture, bump, shadows on, and 'ignore shader trees' off. or p5 with the usual simple stuff turned on. AND the background thing that says 'use current background shader.' AND i checked, and the blue and white cloud thingy is still plugged in! argh!

I can get it to work but only with the P5 renderer. Nothing I did would get the P4 renderer to show it.

Just tried it the first time and it works fine. You have to use the Firefly, it won't work with the P4 render thingie and I noticed that you have to change the colors from black to anything else. When the background color stays dark in the BG color node (or is it a shader or ... ????) you will see no change. And don't ask me what I did there, I just changed the colors, plugged something together and this is what came out :-).

Also be sure to tick the "render over current background shader" in the render settings :o)

Ooo, something else cool to play with - I've got a use for that top one right off. Thanks for the great screenshots!

you can get some really cool effects randomly plugging things together, I've spent more than a few hours dicking about, though I've noticed that often the simple ones work best. Not that I've ever saved them, it's like trying to save an "etch a sketch" :) later jb
