I think I was fustrated by something like this before. I know that trying to change the origin of a grouped object can sometimes yeild screwy results. It's one of those Bryce bugs (at least that I know of with version 4.)
Provided that what you're trying to multireplicate is a single object, then it could be something as simple as clicking the little lock closed before you hit the check mark. For some reason, I've found Bryce is also funny if you assume that it likes your settings without locking it. Dunno why that is, but that's from my experience.

If all else fails perhaps you could move all the pieces of the object individualy, ie. get the box in place around the circle then use the same settings to move the other pieces. I may be talking rubbish but it's an idea. HTH Catlin

I dont know if I am reading this right but you could also multi-replicate along a circular path. Link your original column to the path then multi-replicate the desired number of columns. They will still replicate in one place but it may be easier to position them by selecting each column group after replication and then pulling on the z or x axis for each.

Your problem is you need to move your origin handle (green dot) to the center of the cylinder. Right now all you are doing is replicating in the same spot and each replication rotates around it's axis 24 degrees. Move the origin handle of the columns to the center and they should form a ring when you replicate.

you may also need to offset the x and or z coordinates? Not sure.

I guess you want to make a greek column. In the Real World Bryce Book, there is a tutorial how to do this (pages 322 to 330). My english is too bad to explain this but I'm sure there is someone else that will do.

For a ring of columns 1. create a cylinder or column 2. goto attributes check origin handle 3. duplicate cylinder (do not move it!) 4. goto edit, rotate duplicate on x axis amount you want (spacing) 5. goto multi-replicate, enter how many columns you want minus the two you have, do not change anything in the MR box but the qty 6. hit "ok" (check mark) This should give you the perfect circle of columns you want, you do not need to MR along a path, the origin handle allows Bryce to replicate around the origin (green dot). If you are actually making the greek column, the same principle applies, you are just going to make the center cylinder AFTER you make the ring, and the replicated copies will need to be almost touching each other and negative to create the reeding on the column...Hope this helps

I tryed to follow your steps above but it didnt work it just made 15 in 1 place. (15 was the amount that i wanted) But i dont no if this worked for any1 else.

Question about the green handle. Is there a way to position it by typing in the x,y,z coordinates you want it to have or do you have to rely on the eyeball method?? Thanks, this has been bugging me a long time. Hope someone can answer it (hopefully, with a "Yes, this can be done") :-D

Ang25, go into the Attributes ("a") and click the little lock. This will unlock the origin point and position. Now you can type seperate values for each.

Good stuff to know, but you're taking the LONG way around a simple problem! You don't need the origin point feature at all to do such silliness... Merely "Duplicate" your object once, and on the new part go into it's attributes. Along "X" position, just delete the "-", so that the new object is opposite the original, across the World Center. Then, Group these two objects. Lastly, go into the Multi-Replicate dialogue, and set however many duplicates you want, and then set the rotation to correspond, geometrically, to how many duplicates you want. Boom.

Thanks Aldaron, forgot to mention that... shadowdrgonlord...not necessarily the 'long' way, your way also reqiures a bit of work and only works for some things, six of one, half dozen of the other...:)
