Looking great!

What did you end up doing for the lighting I'm curious?

brholte posted Thu, 13 February 2003 at 10:06 PM

Well, it's rather simple actually. I have one radial light just outside the window by the upper left corner. and one more radial light smack-dab in the middle of the room with a really low intensity. Yep.... that's it. It turns out that somethings aren't as complicated as you make them out to be. now I have to fix the window so it doesn't look like a picture.

Looks great! A big improvement from the first one! Now you can try to convert that radial outside into a volumetric spotlight, then using a lightdome inside, and then again checkin' the TrueAmbience & SoftShadows... :) This is what I did after seeing the works and reading the posts here... and I'm more addicted than ever... Great improvement. You can now see what a great job you did on modelling the furniture. Try the light techniques Doublecrash said. It'll be a bit of fiddling before you get it right, but it's fun to play with those kind of lighting thingy's.

thank you all. I will see what I can do with doublecrashe's ideas. I'm not sure I quite understand, but I will do my best.

oh yes, lighting has improved my image alot. Here is an updated image!!! I am going to try to create streaming lightrays coming through the window. I am assuming that is what DC was talking about with the volumetric spotlight. I am still confused about what a light dome is though..... anyone know??

A lightdome is a ball of radial lights. It creates a global-illumination effect. Check this tutorial: http://www.bryceanworlds.com/pages/simulated_radiosity1.html
