Did anyone get the scifi update? I found the clothes under V3 Clothing but not the new maps, and there is no readme with it. Sigh. Grrrrr, where is my cookie! lol Marque

I love the look of the sci fi outfit - so was happy to see there was an update. And it's conforming. Works terrific.
MallenLane posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 7:16 AM
Glad you like the suit update for V3. =) The new textures may not work optimally with the older V2 set. Both meshes share the same UV mapping, but the V3 version has a lot more material zones, morphs and mesh cuts specific to the new maps and her. I wanted to give the V3 version more versatility overall. The older maps will look fine with the V3 version though. ML DAZ3D

ahh me as well, the maps look incredible, as does the range of makeups.

Hmmm, can't get my purchase either and now it's saying my password is incorrect. Maybe they're in the process of fixing it...you think? :-)

It's probably just a question of modifying the MAT files. I'm going to get these tonight, so I can take a look. (I am NOT giving up some of the V2 SCci Fi Outfit textures! I bought the set just because of one texture.) If it's just a question of adding more material zones to the MAT files, I can put new MATs together and put a copy up for people to download.
MallenLane posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 12:02 PM
Yes the old MATs don't work with the V3 version. Because there were so many new materials added, I renamed them all for clarity. I know Misti is working on some additional textures for it to come out soon as well. ML
barb posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 12:53 PM
Spit Wouldn't mind having that for myself, actually. Really. :)
dialyn posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 1:00 PM
Did everyone get their email from Daz about how to download the Starlet face maps??? You probably should have by now if you have had problems with the download.
xoconostle posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 1:17 PM
I know that the world revolves around Victoria, but if you're a Plat Club member, you really shouldn't miss out on the new global lights. They're even better than the first package...best light sets for Poser I've ever seen.
Spit posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 3:03 PM
Crescent..that would be super! Barb...me too! I'd love to see heads turn at the grocery store! LOL xoconostle...YES! I agree. Grabbed those too and they're wonderful!

Yay! got my starlet maps link and Xoconostle is spot on about the global lighting!

Crescent, that would be very very super of you. I was going to do it, but am still catching up from being away for a month. If you beat me to making new mat files for the old textures, I'll be muchly appreciative as will be many others.

A bit confused here - was there an update for the vicki 2 sci-fi suit to make it work on V3? Going to check the update page and see what updates there arer - (I really need to make more time for that sigh)

MallenLane posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 9:43 PM
Its not an free update, because it goes far beyond the scope of the original piece by adding in more material areas, new mesh, new V3 based grouping, and a lot more morphs and maps. There is upgrade pricing for owners of the V2 version however. ML
3-DArena posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 9:49 PM
That's what I was worried about - that it was the lower priced version I had seen. Nothing in the description told me it was an upgrade to the V2 Sci-fi suit so I bought the V3 version - I thought the Upgrade was just additional morphs for the outfit itself and I hadn't decided to get it or not pooh

Doh, I am sure if you contact them they can sort it out for you. =) And I'll see if I can get the text updated to be more clear. ML

Yes I know they will so I'm not overly worried about it - but I feel quite dumb now lol excellent support over there

I need to sort out the material zones to make sure that I get the colors right, but I should be able to get it up tomorrow. Is it okay if I include the appropriate thumbnails for the MAT files or should I just give instructions on how to copy/rename the thumbnails to match the MAT files? (E.g. for the V3 Neo Asian texture, can I give out a renamed Neo Asian thumbnail for the MAT file to match the V2 material zones?) I'd prefer to include the thumbnails for ease of installation and so they match their counterparts. Well I get these done, I'll put up .zips by type - P4 V Remix, PPP V3 SciFi, etc. Thanks!
Crescent posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 5:25 PM
Whew! I got all the MAT file conversions done. I had to make some transparency maps to create some of the V3 outfits, but I think they look pretty good. A few outfits are slightly different due to material zones, but nothing is earth-shatteringly different. Can I get someone with P4 to test them and make sure I didn't miss a .bum reference somewhere? As soon as I get someone to make sure the P4 version is okay, I'll upload them to FreeStuff. Cheers!
mabfairyqueen posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 2:42 AM
Wow, that's super nice of you, Crescent. Don't have P4 installed myself. Otherwise I'd test them.
Crescent posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 5:38 PM
Eric Torstenson was kind enough to test them and make sure the P4 version was correct. I was pretty sleep deprived when I made these (damned neighbors who start parties at 2am!), so he had his work cut out for him! :-( The V3 suit takes the original textures very nicely. The original suit will not look exactly like the V3 version, but I came pretty close. I even put in a few trans maps to get the outfits even close to the V3 version. (Poser doesn't like reflection maps and transparency maps together, so there's a few things that are shiny in the V3 version, but aren't for the original version.) With the transparency maps, there's one or two tops are have a few pixels that might need postwork if you do real close-ups. Overall, it's very clean, though. I'll get the links up in FreeStuff since there doesn't seem to be a problem with my redistributing the thumbnails for the MATs. If there's any problems with the MATs or my transparency maps, let me know. Also, my trans maps can be redistributed if people want to make textures for both versions of the uniform, though I'd appreciate credit. Obviously the DAZ textures are off-limits. Enjoy! Cres
