Course anyone can hazard to point me to the right technique. Might want something similiar for my latest one as i approach the finish. Specifically its just the single light haze texture. Would it be a light with a faint light gel or a separate cone with a faint transparent layer. My issue is im planning to have a monster/cyborg peering around a corner but need to light it bright, while rest of scene much darker. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=261554&Start=1&Artist=Rochr&ByArtist=Yes http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=326431&Start=1&Artist=Rochr&ByArtist=Yes

I am fairly sure he uses universe image creator for those fx.

The sunrays are made per post! I personally have more control over it that way, and it also saves some rendertime. I usually use several beams, some wider as a base, and some thinner ones, pointed towards areas, that have reflections. Also, i overlap some beams and play around with the opacity. Just remember to use colors that maches the lighting in the scene, it usually gives the best result. Universe, i only use for flares and to enhance reflections. Heres the basic shape i use for the beams. Just add some softness, and linear opacity. Hope this helps! :)

...while im at it, heres a tip on those enhanced reflections! Its the same technique ive used on the "Outcast" character. You can see small flares on the hoses on its head, the feet etc. Its done in Universe Image Creator!
