Just for kicks - there's bound to be some interesting stories out there about darkroom experiences (OK - so this may only involve the old farts...?) Personally - I was assisting teaching a darkroom class at a local college. There was one particular student who always seemed to wind up with grossly fogged negatives. I took a look at her camera and didn't see anything obviously wrong with it, so I decided to watch her as she processed her negs. I stood in the darkroom as she was winding her film on the spool - and she said something like "I can't see a thing" - then she bent over and wound the spool right at the crack of the door (hey - it wasn't a "real" darkrooom - we had a make-shift darkroom - so there was a minute crack of light coming through the bottom of the door) - by doing this she could "see" what she was doing - like the entire concept of a "darkroom" had escaped her. - SAME CLASS - a guy using the same crack under the door was counting how many sheets of paper he had left. (I should have recommended that they started dating) - the weird thing - these two usually had the best images (compositionally - by the "rules") of the entire class - overlooking the extreme fogging they both sustained.
