Sounds like the polygon smoothing thang which Poser does so well. You need to split the vertices (if my failing ol' brain is correct) then you'll have nice sharp edges. The good doctor (Dr Geep) has a tute all about dis kinda t'ing. Search for "geep" in this very forum. For the life of me, I cannae remember which of his tutes it is, and I assure you I have just been looking.

The above Geep tutorial is good. Two ways I know of to do this. the easiest is to take your obj file into uvmapper and do a "split vertices" on it there. The other is more complicated, but if you slightly chamfer your edges in 3dsmax, you should accomplish the same thing. I usually approach it with uvmapper, myself.

If this is Poser 5, turn "Polygon Smoothing" off in the Render Options window.

Don't cross post, I answered your questions in the other forum and I see now it was a waste of my time.
