Hi all, I'm trying to render a scene with a simple wall prop/texture in Poser 5 using the Poser 4 engine. The wall comes out with many thin black lines running across it. Other elements in the scene are fine. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's probably P5's sensitivity to double-sided polygons. If you're familiar with the Material Room, plug the texture node into the Displacement channel, and set the displacement strength to a very low value (0.0001).

Try to change your light properties "min shadow bias" to something between 1 to 3. I'm not sure this will work, though : just my 2 euros advice.

Thanks I'll try it but since the problem occurs only on the wall I don't think I should change any global settings that will affect the whole picture.

Are you checking the boxes for 'use displacement maps'and 'remove back facing polygons'in the render options screen?

I tried the displacement maps as outlined by little dragon above. I didn't see a "remove back facing polygons" option for the Poser 4 engine, but yes, when I tried the Firefly engine, that option was already checked and the lines were still there. I seem to remember these lines being an issue a while back but I can't find the thread.
