Some Windows XP users couldn't get MAT Pose Edit 2.0.2 to work because of an "Out of memory" error. In this version that bug and also some minor bugs are fixed. So this is not a major upgrade because I didn't want to include the features I've made for MAT Pose Edit 3 which will hopefully be available in a couple of months. Anyway, I suggest updating to version 2.0.3 before I'll release version 3. BTW: Only 45 days of military service left! Could you possibly tell me what this program does? Sharen
Pinto posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 12:09 PM
Sharen, This is the great mat pose creation utility that has been in free stuff for a long time. it does a great job. Thanks for the update Ilari. Glad you are surviving the military. Pinto
zukeprime posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 12:25 PM
Ilari, I've downloaded the update 3 times now...each time giving me an invalid archive when I try to open. It's taking an unusually long time to download such a small file, so it's probably getting corrupted during the download. Just a heads up.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 12:31 PM
Jup. Seems it freezes at about 70Kb :o( Can you upload a new one possibly? kiitos in advance :o)

Mine's up to 128KB at the moment - maybe we're swamping his server, so if the rest of you would just toddle off home...
TrekkieGrrrl posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 12:39 PM
heh I AM home. And have been so for HOURS :oP Still no luck.... but it MIGHT be the server that's choking though.

You're right. Usually the server is quite fast but when the bandwith gets high enough the download freezes (at 350KB when I tried). I'm afraid that uploading a new one doesn't help because there's nothing wrong with the file, the server is causing the trouble. Has anyone managed to download the file successfully? Ilari
SAMS3D posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 1:06 PM
But what exactly do you do with this? Sharen
zukeprime posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 1:11 PM
happily Why, it creates MAT poses! Real nice free program...you can create all sorts of MAT poses, from material settings to pose settings etc. Pretty darn useful...AND FREE.
Sasha_Maurice posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 1:16 PM
Does it work in Poser 5? :o)
TrekkieGrrrl posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 1:21 PM
Yes it does. That is, it works with Poser 5 files as well, it's a stand-alone proggie, it doens't work from INSIDE either Poser 4 or 5 :o)

It's also great for creating MOR poses too - I've saved all my characters for Vicky2 and Mike with MAT Pose Edit! You can choose to save any scaling adjustments you made as well and then apply everything as a pose. Thank you scourge for such a great utility! Btw,has anybody tried loading Vicky 3 yet? I'm a bit hesitant to load her because with all her morphs and Male Pack she's over 130MB, though my custom Vicky2 is about 90MB.
scourge posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 3:48 PM
Okay, I've chopped the file into 7 little (150KB) pieces and uploaded them temporarily. Let's see if someone manages to download them.
The files are:
MPE203.zip
MPE203.z01
MPE203.z02
MPE203.z03
MPE203.z04
MPE203.z05
MPE203.z06
Ilari
zukeprime posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 3:52 PM
Nope... Just downloaded one file: MPE203.zip It was corrupt as well.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 3:52 PM
Er... I didn't know that winzip could split up files... and, it seems, neither does my winzip. What proggie should I use to assemble them? It looks like I got them all downloaded, but.....

bomdropr, you will need ALL the files listed. They're all part of the "big" zip.

hmmm...ok, I'll download them all then. I thought he just broke up the zip file into smaller pieces that could be individually unzipped into the directory. I'm on the case!

Sharen, visit the attached link to find more information about MAT Pose Edit. Jon, I think Vicky 3 can be loaded just fine, it will just take time (prepare to wait many minutes). When loading Vicky 3's morphs and poses you know that MAT Pose Edit is still up and running if it counts seconds. And you can cancel the loading process by pressing ESC. Ilariscourge posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 4:55 PM
Damn. I made the archives with WinAce 2.03 and now that I tested them with WinZip they didn't work. Anyway, now I've made them with WinZip 8.1 and they work. So just try the downloading the files again. Ilari
zukeprime posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 5:20 PM
Sweet. It works...at least I can get it to run now. Looks good Ilari! Running like a champ so far Thank you!

cainbrogan posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 9:55 PM
Sharen - A MAT pose is a pose file that remembers what materials you have applied to a figure like Paint Bucket Colors and Textures. A MOR is also a pose file that remembers what all a figure's morph dials are set to. It is much easyer to save MATs and MORs of .cr2 than saving several copies of .cr2s. .cr2s take up 10s of 100s of times more space. = )
LaurieA posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 9:58 PM
Yeah Sharen, MAT Pose Edit is something I've been using for a long time. It's quick, easy to learn and it works well. If you'd like to try it and need any help, let me know :o). Laurie

That last link was ok, it loaded fine. Now to play. Thanks so much for this. I was trying to work through the DAZ mat pose tut. Thanks a lot.

I knew it wouldn't be a piece of cake to release the new version and I'm glad the downloads work again. Looks like the server can breathe again. I'll keep the chopped (7 ZIPs) version still available for about a week. After that there shouldn't be much traffic anymore. And feel free to ask me questions about the software. Ilari
JohnRender posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 9:43 AM
But do the MAT files work in Poser 5? A lot of my MAT files that work fine in Poser 4 aren't working right in Poser 5. I read the thread about this issue a while back, but it doesn't help.
cainbrogan posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 10:32 AM
Yes, I've been using mine. There is the issue of where the textures go though. They need to be in the same directory as in Poser 4. I do'nt think you need to keep your Poser 4 installation, but I do know the MAT files have a directory listing to look for textures...
scourge posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 1:40 PM
MAT Pose Edit creates texture references like Poser, in this form: ":Runtime:Textures:TextureMap.jpg". So if the textures aren't under the Poser folderRuntime directories Poser won't find the textures. Now you can delete the :Runtime:Textures part from the pose files by hand and when MAT Pose Edit 3 is available you can choose how to reference textures (for example just ":TextureMap.jpg"). Ilari
JohnRender posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 9:24 AM
o, the issue from that previous thread is that sometimes MAT files don't work properly in Poser 5. Does your program fix this issue? Will MAT files work consistenly in Poser 5?
scourge posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 2:58 AM
I don't have Poser 5 but if I've understood correctly all the P4 and P3 MAT files don't work in Poser 5 and MAT Pose Edit 2.0.3 doesn't fix this issue. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I can add some Poser 5 compatibility to MAT Pose Edit 3.
herr67 posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 10:15 AM
That would be great! I currently use CR2Edit and delete all the stuff I don't want.

I've yet to have a problem with mats in P5 using vs 2.02.

Here's a link to a thread concerning P4 MAT poses in P5. I'm still not totally sure what makes some P4 MATs not to work in P5.
