I had a holiday on Monday so my sense of time is a little off (oh, let's be real...my time sense is always a little off). I do look forward to getting the newsletter each week...sometimes it reminds me of something I meant to take a closer look at and forgot. Thanks!

Got my newsletter, you Lil' Devil you. ;) Still got my socks on, but it does look good. I especially like the featured essay. I've been trying (unsuccessful) to sell the idea to my library that in addition to traditional art, we should have a display showing and explaining digital art. I know most people think the pinups and nudes represent all that can be done on a computer and that aspect turns off our very conservative community, but they don't see that's really only part and not all by any means what can be done by people with talent. I think it would give us an opportunity to bring in people who find the existing art program stodgy. Well, I can dream, can't I? Good newsletter. I'm enjoying it.

dialyn, Great news! Thanks for letting me know your thoughts on the new flyer layout. I was and am really excited about it. :) Is it a high school library or public? Clint

Oh, I see that library stereotype bulb going off in your head. I hope you've been visiting major libraries...they aren't your grandmother's library anymore. And there is good and bad with that. As with anything.

ClintH posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 8:09 AM

Yea - We go to the library once a week. I have a 6 year old daughter that is a reading machine. She goes through about 15 books a week. We come into the library with bags of books to drop off and then leave with bags of books. I go looking for source material for modeling.. (grin) The library is a fantastic place to get source material...I love that place. Our library even lends out Music CD's these days. Kinda cool. :) Clint

Cool. Then you know libraries are moving forward. We've got DVD's on loan, and my mother (who has macular degeneration) loves the audio books. I'm glad to hear you are a reading family...it paves the way to doing better in school and in the work place. Amazing how many people miss the connection. Now if I could just sneak some digital art in between the moldie oldies our stuck in the 70's art manager has on our walls.....ah, I can dream, can't I. I've really hijacked this thread, haven't I? Apologies. I've got my free download. I'm not usually a contest kind of person but I'm really tempted this time. Very cool prizes.

ClintH posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 8:36 AM

No problem on hijacking the thread. I'm enjoying the library discussion. :) The contest is awesome for sure...sixus1 has some seriously cool products...That LilDevil guy in the Flyer is a very nice model/figure. My daughter does the "Hooked on Phonics" program. I tell ya what - that works in a big way. My parents purchased it for her a few years back and her reading skills took off...its a fantastic program. My wife and daughter read. I dont...I cant stand fiction. I read factual based stuff. I love to read tech manuals and stuff...yep, sick - I know...but I think with 22 years in the computer industry self study of technical documentation has been burned into my system. ;) Clint

Why don't the merchants upload there free items to the Freestuff section like everyone else? What's the point of doing it in this convoluted way?

dialyn posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 9:46 AM

It's not free forever...just an incentive, I think (I could be wrong) for people to read the newsletter and check out a merchant's wares...like giving out samples of food at a grocery store.

Wow Clint the Newsletter looks fantastic :)

I really like the addition of the Contest Page...

Sorry, a Lil'Devil made me say that ;]

I just received this week's newsletter, and want to compliment the staff on the changes. The format is terrific, very attractive layout. It looks like you've responded to some of the changes requested by membership, but even if not, I like the changes. Can't wait to have some mischief with Sixus1's l'il devil model...haven't seen it yet, but what a fun idea. Watch out, angels! Again, kudos on a job well done, and thank you for the freebies!
