I downloaded the "Peice 'O Pie" from Zygote's site. Fun prop. So I immeadatly figured I needed a better map. So on to the grouping tool and UVMapper. As you can see from the render I broke it up in several peices. Top, sides, bottom and back. I also removed the napkin and fork. My question is ... Now that i've done this and made my texture, how can I share this? Is there a way to share without having to send the new obj file? James

:🤤: (and ya don't see me do THAT very often, unless it's a bit of ordinance! :) ) um... um... dunno, can you just send a pp2 out the way you send out cr2's? but seems to me the pp2's have the geometries embedded in 'em. plus, there's no obj, so you couldn't use objaction mover... i hope you can, though, it looks delicious! :)

The latest release of Steve'a UVMapper allows you to save and exchange just the UV info without the model. I haven't tried it yet but sounds like what you need here.

If there's a new obj (which there would be if you used UVMapper) then I should think that objaction mover might work but you would have to figure out some way to point to the differences in the two object files. That's the only thing I can think of other than bloodsong's suggestion. Kate

If it's just uvmapper that you used to modify it, then it's no problem, just export a uvs file from the modified .obj and distribute this. Anyone who has the original .obj pulls it into uv mapper and imports your .uvs file. It works like a charm.

Lol must be the last piece Nance :))

Thanks for that explanation, Jon. I had no idea how to advise James about distribution. Filing this info away for future reference. :)

What, no ice cream? (Will now commence with the running and ducking)

Thanks people, Unfortunatly, It is more involved than just a quick UV map. I REMOVED the fork and napkin. So now the original obj file is quite different. and the new geometry is contained in the CR2. I guess the best way is to do it all over again with the original obj file untouched. Just hoped that there was a different solution. James PS: What flavor Ice cream? heheheh.

There may be a trick to selectively import the UV data from your modified model to the original even though they have different poly counts. Check with Steve Cox. He's a friendly sort who answers his email.
