Hello all, I'm running Carrara on a Beige G3 300Mhz w 190MB Ram and an Ati Nexus Acceleration Card. My problem (or at least one of them ) is that any time I try to use one of the texture maps i used to use in Infini-D the application Crashes. I think I get "type 2 errors" although i cant remember right now (i'll go check in a minute). Sometimes the maps import fine but when i try to apply them to an object Carrara crashes. I really hope some one can help with this one since i have many maps i need for work. please tell me i didnt make my company waste money on yet another unusable shiny frisbee!!!!! tanks c9

Hmmm, I haven't had that kinda fun on mine. I think type two errors or bad file format issues. If you've got Photoshop 5.x try batch saving the texture files into a different folder as TIFF's or JPEG's and try it again. And as always, try running Carrara with as much memory as you can allocate leaving about 30M to 40M for the system. Mark

I will take your advice and try different formats. (i have been using "Pict". Im also wondering if ther are any constraints on the size and shape that image maps can be in carrara. i do animation for a television production studio which specializes in sport programs. for that reason i make my texture maps high res. (so if for example a 3d soccer ball zooms up to the screen even the stitches appear realistic) Maybe i'm asking too much of Carrara and need to spring for higher end software. I'll try the different file formats though. (I also dont appreciate the fact that in carrara i cant render QT animations with Alpha for compositing in after effects) Thanks c9

I think a type 2 error is a memory problem. Check out the Apple website under tech info library. If it is, just alot Carrera more ram.
