Models that I construct and export from Rhino3D (3ds and obj formats) don't seem to hold textures in Poser5. If I render them in Rhino3D or Anim8or, the texturing and lighting effects appear. However, in Poser5, the model appears black and is not affected by lighting or reflection settings. I'm sure it's a simple fix. Any ideas why?

Someone cleverer than I will give you a better answer, but I think it's something to do with your vertices. Are you using UVMapper? If you are put it through there, press "weld vertices" and you should get the textures back. Seems .obj's need a little more work before being imported into Poser. I know this to be true of Poser 4. Then again.. this could be completely wrong! VH

Rhino image textures don't export with .obj files. The rhino color value goes into the object color. You also have highlight, ambient and reflective color values in poser. These affect how the object looks and even affect the appearence of image maps applied over them. These default to white, grey, and black on my system. You need to map your object with a program like uvmapper. This creates a bitmap you can paint images onto. You apply this image to the texture map in poser and check the box texture changes to the entire figure. To get the poser material window click on the render menu and pull down to materials.
