BTW, no bumpmap and a standard Vicki texture on that. That's all morph target. B^) YAY! I finally got it!
_dodger posted Tue, 25 February 2003 at 12:20 PM
Oh, forgot to mention, creating the MT took me... umm... not counting figuring it out and waiting for Max or Poser to load up, about three minutes.

Come on, peeps! Tell me if I suck or what!

The standard problem of morphing seems to be: know your mesh. I got to be pretty good with Posette in RDS, then tried Vicky and freaked out on the number of polygons. After a while it started to make sense, though.... Once the mesh becomes familiar it is less of a hassle. I can see why Traveler wanted to stop being the community's designated morph guy once Vicky came out, though....

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

BTW no bump maps applied to those. No texture shading. Only MTs.

See above, this mesaage was only to get an attention-getting subject line in here. B^)
catlin_mc posted Tue, 25 February 2003 at 2:43 PM
and your attention grabbing subject line is sure drawing the crowds. Great work dodger and soooooooo fast too. :)

Heck at this point I could do three more whilst waiting for a Renderosity page to load!

L She was blue, but I didn't want to make a new non-skintone texture just to test an MT B^) She can't be a Boolean -- she'd be sure to have degenerate facets if she was L skee: I'm up to my armpits -- no, make that Michael Jordan's armpits -- in projects at the moment, but -- I've read: Stranger in a Strange Land The Number of the Beast Job Farnham's Freehold The Door Into Summer Starship Troopers Waldo/Magic Inc. Glory Road (most of) To Sail Beyond the Sunset The Cat Who Walks Through Walls Assignment in Eternity the one with the slave kid that was really Asimov-like and I forget the name (some of) Time Enough for Love (the 60's shorter edit of) Methuselah's Children And many short stories, of which my favourite was 'By His Bootstraps'

If you can find it read " I will fear no evil" and "Friday". Maybe we can work on that project later. BTW you will love "Friday". Time Enough for Love , is the beginning of all the time line. Drink Deep skee

Oh, yeah, I read those, too. I forgot about them.
_dodger posted Wed, 26 February 2003 at 10:53 AM
I Will Fear No Evil was just weird. Friday was good. But IWFNE -- well, it started out just fine, and then it got really strange. Didn't like it much.

I don't know anything about morphing, but just wanted to mention that after I read that book I couldn't stop thinking (not to mention speaking) with this word. ;)
skee posted Thu, 27 February 2003 at 7:38 AM
The word was created from ... growing and knowing...and means to understand with all understanding. This is one of its 27 meanings. This is for those who have not read the book.

Hmm, it's supposed to be just Martian, any similarities to Growing and Knowing are purely cioncidental. The closest human equivalent word is actually 'drink' or perhaps 'eat'
_dodger posted Thu, 27 February 2003 at 8:05 AM
it's closest in meaning to the human term 'digest' in that it's used for both eating and understanding.
_dodger posted Thu, 27 February 2003 at 8:08 AM
for a list of english words that would be, based on their meaning to humans, translated to grok: comprehend understand eat know swallow believe drink imbibe osmote absorb become fuse become enlightened merge mate love hate marry fuck digest
