I recently downloaded Shademaster's renderupdate file and the render I got was absolutely amazing. I've been using poser for 2 years and all this time I've been rendering in my main window rather than in a larger view. What a difference it makes....duh... No wonder I was having such difficulty getting good resolution when I did my postwoek. Using shademaster's lights and these settings 1024x1103 pixels with 72 res, hopefully I should be able to infuse my gallery with some more substantial work. Is there anything else I'm missing?

yep make sure to save it as a BMP or TIFF or a PSD file never ever ever use the JPG option . It has way to much Loss in it . I try to make my render size match a print size or screen/ monitor size incase i wish to print it at a later date . If you want to compress it wait till the very last thing you do to convert it to a JPG . My typical render size is 1600 x 1200 and i make both my view size and render size the same .

So what does it do? It sounds interesting

download it from the freestuff section and see for yourself! It simulates the effect of softshadows/reflections/HDRI/Global illumination. All for free....

I downloaded this but when I render with it, my figures are totally white (extremely overexposed). How am I supposed to get anything with this? I tried reducing the intensity of the lights to no avail. I had better results with the orinal three poser lights. (I know it HAS to be because I'm doing something wrong)

Hm, that's odd, are you using Poser 5 in Raytrace mode? If you are try switching to Poser 4 rendermode without the ball object in the background.

Shademaster posted Fri, 28 February 2003 at 10:48 AM

BTW, did you install the poser 4.03 upgrade??

KyReb posted Fri, 28 February 2003 at 11:10 AM

Here is what I'm getting on the left. The only thing changed is the light set. (I put the blue dots in because I didnt want my first ever picture post to be criticised for gratuitous nudity)

Darkginger posted Fri, 28 February 2003 at 12:01 PM

Just one suggestion - I don't know if you've moved the figure from its original position before rendering - I've found with a few light sets that they point at the default origin of figures, rather than at the figures themselves, so if you move your person, the lights cease to point at them. Could be your figure has moved too close to the lights? Now I move the camera instead! (This had me puzzled for ages with RDNA's dramatic shadows set)

Shademaster posted Fri, 28 February 2003 at 1:14 PM

Hmmm, Darkginger could be right on this one. I never heard about this bug and never had any problems with renderering, but I had more complaints like this and now I know what causes them. Thank you for the suggestion Darkginger. And KyReb, don'n mind too much about the nudity ;) everybody posts nekkid poserchicks around here.

There's no problem with posting nude images, just hit the nudity tag. Cheers!

KyReb posted Fri, 28 February 2003 at 3:29 PM

Darkgingers suggestion was so good I was sure that that was it. However I moved the body to a ztran -5.00 and I still have a little luminous white figure. I'm open to suggestions! ;-)

Shademaster posted Fri, 28 February 2003 at 3:33 PM

Don't move the figure itself but the camera only. What you can do to overcome this effect is to add the figure you just posed to your figure library and then reload the renderupgrade scene and load your saved library figure into the scene. This way all the lights are aimed at the figure again. Just tried it and it works! cheers

Where can "Shademaster" be found?

Shademaster posted Sun, 02 March 2003 at 9:59 AM

Just click on my name and you can find the freebees there. Glad it worked out okay KyReb! She looks nice!

meekinsdh posted Sun, 02 March 2003 at 10:13 AM

Thanks for leading me to Shademaster. Do you think it will work with Poser 5? Meekinsdh

Shademaster posted Sun, 02 March 2003 at 10:20 AM

No it won't work with Poser 5 unless you remove the ball object in the background. You won't see any panoramic background then but the lightset renders well. I am working on that problem right now.

Thanks for all the info. I'll keep and eye out for when you have the problem fixed. Thanks again!
