Doublecrash posted Sun, 02 March 2003 at 4:13 AM

First of all, it was a real pleasure to view all the images! Really high-quality bunch! I had the usual difficult time to make a choice, specially for the third place, I was debating between 5 or 6 works (those of Roch222, Draculaz, ttops, pidjy, Z_Shadow and tjohn, I finally decided on the latter because that metaballed hand really rocks!). Here's my votes: 3 points: Claymor 2 points: catlin_mc 1 point-: tjohn I would like also to say that I liked a whole, whole lot the pics of Ornlu, Quest, Rayraz and Creations but that, IMHO (read an accent on the "H", please), they didn't fit in the monthly challenge topic as well as the others. Thanx for another wonderful slideshow! Stefano

AgentSmith posted Sun, 02 March 2003 at 4:18 AM

Rayraz 3pts *Can't stop looking at this, just a great polished pic, beautiful everything. Definetly my fave. Can't really put my finger on the specific things I love about this pic, just drawn to it. bhubenig 2pts *Great energy/movement in this work, nicely done color scheme, really enjoyed this one. IMO, hits well on the theme. Dream Warrior 1 pt *Smacks the theme well, with a beautifully colored render. One cannot escape the all-seeing Bryce trackball. Also, if you people haven't, make sure you take the time to look over ALL the entry pics to decide, not just the thumbnails, you'll have a couple days to decide. Great entries going on! Always a tough decision. AgentSmith

3 - Claymor, for showing the God Of Bryce as an artist with his beautiful detailed studio. 2 - Stephen Ray, for keeping the God Of Bryce to his basic level and inviting us all to play "Little Gods" ourselves. 1 - Draculaz, for keeping an eye out for the God Of Bryce by making him the centre of this and his challenge. Thanks to all paticipants for sharing their dreams with us. Willem and Madeleine

3- draculaz 2- DarkndSoul13 1- tjohn It was a difficult task, but I think that these 3 met the requirements of the challenge. My judging was based on the overall quality of the render and the content. There were a lot of excellent entries, but deciding on whether certain images broke the import rules was the hardest part.

Difficult choices here. 1 ttops 2 dreamweaver 3 bhubenig

Ang25 posted Sun, 02 March 2003 at 7:44 AM

This sucks! I can't vote, ok I can but I can't narrow it down to just 3. I'm going to but I want people to know that I loved so many of these. And it just isn't fair. Ok here are my final picks:
3 pts Nuski - King of the terrain editor. Works wonders with it. Using a 2D pic to create a shape in the terrain editor is legal in my book.
2 pts Catlin_mc - Wonderful concept and great modeling!
1 pt ICMgraphics - Another wonderful concept and I love those meta-cows.
I won't mention all the others I loved but I did want to mention that I wished I could have fit T-John into the top 3, it was a great idea and the terrain work was phenominal!
I think everyone did a fantastic job with this challenge.

3-nuski 2-dan whiteside 1-Ornlu All very close. I have got to say one thing though. I think Claymore and Dan Whiteside both didn't violate the rules. Claymores image can be done 100% in bryce and I think he did. I think the man is a texture mapped on a 2D-plane. Dan Whitesides image didn't use imports. The head was a distance-render mapped on a terrain if I remember correctly. I'm not sure about the head and the sails in Electroglyph's image. They could be terrains, but that's up to him to clarify.

Claymor posted Sun, 02 March 2003 at 10:33 AM

Ok, this was tough...there were so many really great images to choose from that I had to keep going back to the challenge definition to help me stay on track. 3 - electroglyph, I love the metaphore in this one 2 - blue ardor, A different take on it that still shows off what Bryce can do. 1- nuski, Glad you put this back in the challenge. For those who think I may have violated the rules I assure you my pic was 100% Bryce. The controversy seems to be around the man which was a 2d pic. In my mind that constitutes a texture which I thought was fair game. In any event thanks to all entrants for some fantastic and inspiring pics!!

Well, imagine my surprise when Doublecrash gave my piece honorable mention along sides Ornlu and Rayraz, particularly when I hadnt even entered my work for the monthly challenge! I think theres been some miss understanding or a mix-up of some kind. Nevertheless, I appreciate the fact that it was even considered, being as the challenge called for only Bryces features used and no imported models from other sources and my work has a 3D Studio model and a Canoma model. On these grounds alone, I suggest my work be withdrawn from this months challenge where it was never my intention to enter it in the first place. Im so sorry to the other participants for this mix-up. Again, it becomes an ordeal for me to select only 3 winners when so many are deserving of the honor. Good work all around! 3-Claymor 2-Draculaz 1-FWTempest Honorable mention goes to; chohole Tjohn BlueArdor

I see your point AgentSmith, it was my understanding from the "Monthly Challenge Rules" that all entries had to say "Monthly Challenge Entry" as the subject. From "Monthly Challenge Rules"; "Contest entries need to be posted "Monthly Challenge Entry" as the subject of the post." Again, I'm very sorry for all inconveniences I may have caused. I really didn't mean to screw things up here.

I've been thinking for about an hour trying to come up with three. I tried to pick one's that suggested a diety. I also wanted ones that used the greatest number of different Bryce functions. I got totally lost... There are a lot of great renders that I disqualified because they don't suggest much about any god to me. Here are the one's that I pick for this five minutes: 3points Claymor - God as a tinker in a little workshop. If you has a picture of George Burns it could be Oh-God all over again. Lot's of made objects and every Bryce function I can think of is used. 2points Dan Whiteside - The holy one returns! great composition and colors. What tipped me over the edge was the one on the right flipping the bird. 1point TJohn - No primatives I can see, but you have the god's hand in there actively messing with the scene. I've often wished I could reach through the screen and do the same. Great work everyone!

After about three days of studying every image, I've finally been able to pick out my 3 favorites. 3 points to Claymore: for the best interpretation of the "God of Bryce", the perfect lighting and atmosphere, and excellent use of textures!! Awsome image!! 2 points to Ornlu: for showing off the stellar landscapes Bryce is capable of, although many other images also did a wonderful job at that. 1 point to ttops: for, in my OPINION, just simply being a kick-ass image, and creating it in a way I never thought of. Congrats to everyone who entered. I had a tough time deciding, and I can't wait to find out the winner, and next months challenge!!

3 points - Jausse
High quality render with a great POV. I really love the way there are all these element in a vortex around a sort of alter.

2 points - tjohn
The hand of God. A very direct approach to the idea of God. Great terrain and water.

1 point - dan whiteside
Great scene and comp. I liked the idea of the idol being worshiped and an actual phenomenon occurring overhead.

Great work everyone.
