Volumetric lighting is not one of bryce's strong points... It is increadibly slow and useless. Best just to fake it.
Aldaron posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 10:44 PM
What's the shadow intensity set to? For volume light it seems it has to be set pretty high or it "shines" through objects.
Aldaron posted Fri, 07 March 2003 at 10:45 PM
Also I noticed your figure isn't casting a shadow. Is it set to cast shadows?

volumetric lighting is definitely one of bryce's strong points when it is done correctly. This looks great. I'll second Aldaron's comments.

A quick beer and a good scratch before putting on his armor for the day? Had to comment on the humor of the image.

LOL, it's actually a coffee mug, but now that I look at it...it does look like a beer can. :) Aldaron I checked on your suggestions: Yes cast shadow is on, and when I increased shadow intensity, it removed quite a bit of the "light through" effect, yet the rest of the scene became so dark you could barely make it out. So I'll paint in by hand. Thanks for your suggestions. ICM

Are Self shadows and recieve shadows on? other than what you already mentioned looks really good!

Yup, double checked all light settings. What perplexed me is the back of his head, neck, right arm, & shins have shadow.

Your beams look nice and I agree with the others - for the pain they cause the results of volumetric world are worth the price. You need to add more samples to your beams (which unfortunately means more render time) but it willl also smooth them out and fix the shadow accuracy. Also either turning off the sun or (a better solution) is to make it a shade of dark grey until your background 'ambient' light allows your beams to be more dramatic. Keep working on it and it will be great! Scott : )

Don't forget that light bounces around. Light can be coming from the window and bouncing off the wall in the back and hitting the guy in the back.

(grin) only 2 walls and no cieling.
Aldaron posted Sun, 09 March 2003 at 11:44 AM
Light doesn't bounce in Bryce.
bikermouse posted Sun, 09 March 2003 at 5:29 PM
ICM,
Agent Smith noticed a few weeks ago that a light might penetrate a supposedly solid object in Bryce.
Try reading this thread as it may shed some light on the subject.
