This is the tack set so far. It will have poseable tassels (I didn't like the ones I'd done, so I'm reworking them), and some nice fancy embroidered, woven and beaded texture sets.
Now the questions on which I'd like some opinions, please:
Traditional Bedouin tack, on which this set is based, consists of a very simple bitless bridle or halter with a chain noseband (called a reshmeh, I believe), and a saddle that is basically a pad held on with a girth strap and a breast strap. Not many people still ride in this fashion. Would people prefer to see the addition of a bit and stirrups as well?
Do you like it? Would you actually pay money for it??

I've been asking for this for a LONG time! It looks great and I would happily pay money for it. On request would be to make sure it fits the default Poser horse as well as the one with your Arabian morph.

I agree with Daio, it looks great. (: I would prefer to see the addition of stirrups, that are adjustable to what-ever figure you may be using, but would buy it even if it didn't have it. (: Genny

I like it, and would buy it. Ditto on the stirrups, if you add them it would be nice if they were poseable up and down, front to back, in and out, maybe even twist. Is this too much? ;)

i like this too! :) i would gladly buy this...maybe make the stirrups because alot of people will probably want them.. that way if someone doesn't want them they can set the transparency for them seperately. i also have to go with Daio's suggestion of making it fit the default horse.

Looks great - I'd be in the market ! I've been hoping for something in saddlery that ISN'T modern. Been toying with the idea of some Dark Ages sort of scenes..maybe using those great new Vikings from DAZ. They didn't always travel by ship..so some horse tack that could pass for that period would be MOST appreciated

Whew! Looks as if I'm on the right track. Thank you all for replying. The stirrups will be added. :)
I was intending to make sure it fitted the standard P4 horse, yes. I'll check it with the Ultimate Horse breed morph sets as well. I shouldn't look out for it any time soon, though, there's a lot of work still to do!
Freyfaxi, I've been looking at the horse stuff they put together for Lord of the Rings, thinking to do some 'inspired by' stuff for Poser. I've started with a tack/morph/mane/tail set based on Arwen's horse- not an exact copy, but something with a similar feel. If I ever get on to the Riders of Rohan, they'd probably be okay for Dark Ages with a fantasy twist.

I love it as is. I would hide the bit and stirrups anyway. Absolutely love that bitless bridle with nose chain!

May I suggest you to make some textures that would match the "crusades" set (sarracen side)? This would go very nicely with my historical characters. Very original work so far.

Most probably an andalous (spanish) horse. Given the armor of the rider, I'd say an early 17th century parade harness. Just a guess. Compiler

I'd vote for no stirups and no bit. There are already several modern saddles and bridles around: it would be nice to have something non-modern for all those fantasy and traditional scenes. Carolly

Stirrups that are morphable are cool but if individually mapped can be rendeered transparent and be gone therefore giving you the benefit of both. The bit is different....maybe two different sets bit and bitless!? But I like the progress so far!

Thank you everyone who's added further comments. It wouldn't be too hard to do stirrups as a separate conforming figure. Two seperate headpieces, bit and no bit, may also be possible- time allowing. I thought something along these lines for the stirrups- if I can figure out how to do the texture mapping for an object that shape!

heyas; i like the idea of being a traditionalist and having it historically accurate with no stirrups. however, there's no reason you can't have removable stirrups (or hide-able), to please both parties. and add extra versatility.
