Greetings! In my never ending quest of finding the perfect hairy man (I have not found him yet! Any takers? LOL), I bought Poser 5 thinking that I could use the Hair room to make hair props on various parts of Michael II's body. While I understand HOW to make the Hair props, I do NOT know how to make them realistic. The following screen shots will give you an example of what I am trying to accomplish. In a nutshell, I am trying for that natural soft look of human male body hair. I can get head hair all day! Take a look at these screen shots and any information/help will be greatly appreciated.

These are the settings that I used. This is also with the hair populated.

This is the Poser 4 renderer. Not that good. Note towards the bottom how it looks in regards to the chest. The hairs are really blocky and the haris do not look realistic.

This is the FireFly render. Although the hairs look more realistic the bottom of the hair looks bigger then the tip. Normal hair is the same width from root to tip. I would, if at all possible, like to get the hairs more curly. Please exchse me for being rude, I would like the hairs to look almost like pubic hairs. I know that sounds gross, but that is the look that I am looking for.

Maybe try a mixture of "real hair" and hair on texture and I think the hair is actually too thick. Thomas

Adding a bit of transparency to the hair material can work wonders.

Some suggestions: 1) The hair is a bit thick; some men have hair this thick on their chest, but then it is equally thick on the rest of the body. 2) Hair does taper (thicker at root than at tip). This is controlled by "Tip width/Root Width" parameters. 3) There is no real "curl" setting; you have to make do with "kink". Experiment with "kink scale" & "kink strength" in the 50-100 range. You can also increase "verts per hair" to increase the effectiveness of the kink settings. 4) Hair density is controlled by vertex density. Hair will be thicker where there are more polygons (which is why the muscle seams are darker). You may wish to have multiple hair groups with different hair counts depending on poly density.
