This was posted up before when they had released #3, and #4, and you'll see some typo's, but this IS release #5. They also still have packs #1-#4 available for download. There are 21 characters in this release, with two of them having lots of parts. As earlier members had noticed, the preview pics look great compared to the model you end up importing. That's because they reduce the number of poly's before sending them out. Just be sure to smooth (almost) all these models all the way up to 180 degrees, they can take it and actually do need it, after that, they'll look just fine for free. One problem; this set of models can be downloaded in different formats, but they only one* Bryce will import are the .obj's, which is fine but Bryce asks for a .mtl file, when it doesn't get one, you'll get an error message and no import. *Yes, they offer .lwo and .cob sets for download, but thet are of a higher version than Bryce can recognize. I found that if I made a blank text file with the same name as an .obj file, then changed the suffix from .txt to .mtl, it would then import just fine. But, because of this, the models have no uvmapping, I had to wrap all my textures "world cubic" to make them look decent. But, fear not...I have the quick fix available for download, just unzip the 21 .mtl files in the same folder as the .obj's, and you'll be able to import into Bryce. http://market.renderosity.com/~bryce/mtl_for_5_obj.zip Enjoy! The smoothing at work. This is a character from Pack #1.

My fave character from pack #5, name of "tahoro". (textures not included, btw)

Cool, some of them though, when you smooth them in bryce get really ugly... In other programs it works fine, but bryce makes a mess. The beetle thing for instance.

Yeah, "smooth (almost) all these models all the way up to 180 degrees", lol. The head busts don't deal so well past 91 degrees. (pack#5) AS

When bryce asks for an mtl, any mtl will do, just point it to one. Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for the info and link! You can also open the .obj in a text editor and remove the usemtl line. Then Bryce will no longer ask for one. Or even open the .obj in latest version of Grouper and it will make a .mtl for it if you ask.
