My question. I guess Vue doesn't handle reflection maps like Poser? Anyway, her boots had a reflection map and it looks funny in Vue so I went and selected one part to remove the reflection. Two pieces came in for each boot, and I only selected one. Vue told me the changes I made would apply to everything selected. So I passed cause that confused me since I only had once piece selected.
Can anyone explain that for me? thanks!

If you select an object, and no material shows up in the material preview window (see picture), then the object has more than one material assigned.
You can split the object into it's various material groups by selecting the object, typing ctrl-e, and selecting the split button.
You can also adjust materials by using the Material Summary. Press F6 to bring up the Material Summary window.

crash in bum files sounds like Mac version. Is it so?

HI and welcome, your first render is a beauty....just love it. Also, I don't think 4.13 is out yet, you are fully updated as far as my understanding goes. Can't wait to see more from you. Sharen

SittingBlue: Thank you! Yes! That's it..thanks! Wabe, no. PC version (I'm on XP). It couldn't find the .bum so I cancelled out of the load of the .bum, then it crashed. So it may not be .bum specific, just cancelling after an error? Sharen, thanks!! I hope I do lots and lots! LOL This is so different from version 2. The same but different. I'm lovin' it! Oh, and I'm all up to date? That's great!

I had the same problem. Something I learned was press the F6 button to pull up the materials list. There you can edit each of the materials with ease. I had the same problem when I imported Mike with Armor - the reflections were really cool, but I thought it was a bit overboard. Great looking render too! ~ Brent

Spit, this thread may explain about the .bum problem, I don't know how you can get the earlier version as you have the latest realease. I had the .bum problem and that was how I cured it.gebe posted Thu, 13 March 2003 at 10:36 AM
raven, this doesn't any more happen with 4.12 (latest version). When Vue 4.12 came out, there was this problem, but few days later it went away with a new update for the update:-). I think that Vue asked Spit to localize the bum and he canceled. Normally Vue will find the bum file as all the maps, if the figure or scene is imported as a Pz3. Guitta

Well, there might still be a problem, Guitta. I thought at first I didn't have the .bum file and that's why Vue told me it couldn't load it. I just checked the cr2 I had used for the scene, and it points to the right place for the .bum file. And the .bum file is there.

If you have Vue 4.12, this DOES work without problem. It was a problem in Vue 4.06 and older only. Try to download once more the 4.12 full update from e-onsoftware and install it. About the reflection maps: Vue don't need it, because it creates REAL reflecting material. Just select one from metals.

I purchased Vue, received it yesterday, installed it. The version says 4.12-02 Build 261025. I imported a pz3 which had reference to a .bum file that does exist where it says it does. Vue gave me the message it couldn't load the .bum file. I cancelled and Vue crashed. Sounds like a problem to me, guitta. There may be a difference between older versions with updates vs the latest purchased versions. I'm not going to download and install anything unless I know the build number. I can handle the .bum situation myself, no problem since I use ProPack. I'll just hunt down the remaining few I have and convert to jpg then fix the references.

Please Split, do what I said and download the FULL UPDATE for 4.12 again.
If, after that, you almost have this problem, go to e-onsoftware's site, select support and write your problem. But IMO they first will ask you to download the update.
I'm sorry I cannot help better. Please try.
What happend is the following: When Vue has created the update 4.12, we testers have found out that it did not want to accept bum files. Then, immediately, one day after, this 4.12 has been updated properly and it works perfectly since. Of course, you're free to behave as you want, but anyhow write to the support:-)

Hi, very nice render!Gebe is right:there was a final 4.12.02 update a few days later (2 days difference).Maybe your copy was manufactured in this time. When you update ,you won't see any difference, even the number is the same, but the bum.-bug should be removed with that. cheers rollmops :-)
