I have managed to convert a jpeg to a bmp file but can't figure out how to get it to a bum file. I have tried just renaming it with a bum extention but that does not work. None of my V3 texture maps work with out the bum file. I am hoping someone has found a solution to this problem before. Thanks a lot and I enjoy reading the forum posts even off topic :) Debbie

lots of ways to do it. Easyest way to do it is to take your original jpg and bring it into a paint program. There your going to desaturate it ( change to black and white ) then you invert it ( changes white to blacks and blacks to whites ) I like to tweak it a bit at this point adding a bit more contrast. then you save it as a ( Windows ) BMP. Then you have to go to change its file extension to BUM. If this isnt working for you . You have a few different options . Open the CR2 or pose file in notepad and do a "find" and look for " runtime " every time it says something about a bum file you replace whats there with your new bum file and its location . You will see something like this :
bumpMap ":Runtime:textures:DAZ:Characters:MilWom:V3Maps:V3BodyB.jpg"
probley the easyest way to do it is to use a free program called " correct reference " that is suppose to fix all the dead or missing links to the correct loacation .

If you have Poser 4, you can convert it automatically. Load a simple prop (e.g. a box) and load the jpg file as a bump map. Poser 4 will ask you if you want to convert it to a bum file. Answer yes, and it will be done automatically for you.

That worked fine, thank you.

I think theres a program around to convert images to BUM, but I find it simpler to just let Poser do it using the method Kelderek suggested.
