I found a nice halo prop in Freestuff, but I want to do ones with intricate designs. Examples would be: rennaisance or art nouveau or deco or icon-style. Spent the whole morning looking for circular border designs in clip art, but turned up very little. Does anyone know of any (preferably free, but I'm getting desperate ;) ?

There is a torus (doughnut) shape in the basic props folder. With a gold colour and a bit of flattening it looks ok - none of my angels have ever complained. Actually, I usually add halos in photoshop coz it is easier to make glowy ones there.

I have the basic prop---what I need a pointer to are designs that are circular. Imagine an intricate border print...now bend it into a ring. That's what I'm searching for, a texture, rather than a prop. (Photoshop could probably make one out of a straight border, but that would take a great deal more Photoshop skills than I posess. That's why I'm looking for clip art--so I can spend my limited time working on the picture itself :)

If you are having trouble finding a circular pattern, you could try re-mapping this halo in a way which you can lay out the art linear....using UVMapper Rawnrr

Now that is clever..... But then I'd still be stuck having to learn a new app in order to do it. I was really hoping someone would know a source for clip-art that included intricate circular border designs. I plan to take the design into Bryce (in black and white) and apply it to a symetrical lattice to make it 3-d. I can just see it in my mind, with a gold reflection map applied once it's in Poser....sigh.

I'd suggest using a disc (flat cylinder). As for patterns, look for clipart meant for photoframes and such. I'm flipping through my Italian Rennaisance painting book and looking at the patterns. Many are simple stippled gold discs, but there are some with vines, geometric designs, rays of the sun and one with latin around mary's head. I could try my hand at one or two if you're that desperate..

Thank you for the very, very generous offer, Lyrra, but it's a complex project and I just know it's out there somewhere in the Humongous Land Of ClipArt, so I could never ask anyone to make me one from scratch. I'll just do the figures and keep checking out the online clip art sources until something pops up, but thank you all who've tried to help :)

you can make some nice circular patterns from square patterns using the kaleidoscope plugin in PSP.

I'm not sure if this will help, but the Renaissance Angel set for Michael and Victoria (at Runtime DNA) includes a halo, and is already set up for Poser.

Try this one, maybe

Thank you, Deecey :) It's a beautiful set, but the ad only shows one halo texture and it's attractive, but not quite what I want for this project. Hankim, I don't know how you tracked that page down, but the designs are beautiful. I'm going to see if I can use some of them, converted to black and white. And I'd love to know how the artist created them...a plug-in for Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, perhaps? Thank you!

Musicat, that is one cool freebie...how the heck did it get past me the first time around?! Thank you! But now I still need the actual patterns to mount on the props..... I know I've seen them here and there over the years, but finding one when I need it is just amazingly difficult. If I had any talent at graphics like that, I'd make my own. Just saw a beautiful Art Nouveau goddess figure at the San Francisco Garden Show that really inspired me, and her crown-halo was made up of seperate design elements arranged around her head in a circle...I guess I could do that, if I can get Photoshop to work well enough ;) But I'm still hoping to uncover truly circular gothic tracery patterns, like ornate wrought iron motifs.... Back to the Clip Art searches!

on the textures you will perhaps have to design them yourself or take a digital picture of the one at the San Francisco Garden Show & then extract that using photoshop. then insert it into the aura prop. that is the easiest way i can think of. Here are some sites you can use as samples: http://www.architecture-prints.com/c6718.htm http://www16.brinkster.com/wroughtiron/Photo%20Gallery%201.html http://www.vikingsword.com/ethsword/patterns.html (as with all sites tho, if you intend to use the pictures from the sites, please ask permission before you use them.)
