Hi,
I have a big problem.
I was working on a character, and I saved that characters as a pz3. That evening I opened it again.
It opened okay, I made a minor change to the dials and wanted to save again.
While it was saving my pz3, I closed another program which made my computer shut down abruptly and it restarted again ( a problem that I have sometimes lately, I have to reinstall everything again so that that wont happen again, its not poser related). So the computer restarted itself in the midst of saving my pz3.
Now the pz3 has the information in it (I tried moving the refered files and open the pz3 in poser , poser asks for the textures so it must have the info in it), its 103 mb.
When I want to open it, poser starts up then suddenly poser is of my screen, its just not open anymore, closed itself down.
All other pz3 work fine and poser too.
Can someone help me get the pz3 to work again, or can I rip the characters information out of it somehow?
Can someone help me???
Thanks!!

AFAIK a pz3 is a great huge text file which references all the bits and pieces used to create the scene. If you open it in a text editor you should* be able to copy out the charater info to a separate file which can be saved independently of the pz3. * Note I said "should". The file will be huge and identifying which pieces are which may be a difficult task.

It's doable - I once managed to extract some props from a PZ3 which referred to Victoria before I had Victoria, but it took a fair bit of trial and error. Try opening a working CR2/PP2/whatever in a text editor, and your PZ3 beside it, and copy across the bits that seem to belong for each item you wish to extract in place of the original content.

Okay thanks!! I was hoping that there maybe was a utility or program that could extract the pz2 or cr2 from the pz3 but I gues thats not possible. I took a look at the pz3, geez what a long list, and I thought cr2's where long:-) The pz3 contains a v 3character, a hairprop, and a back and floorprop, so I guess I have some reading to do, to find what I need and not remove the wrong things. But I am glad the info can be found back!!

The CR2Edit 6 program info says it will Convert PZ3 files to CR2 files. I don't know how well it will work on a damaged PZ3 file though.

Um..Dalinise... About your computer shutting itself off...please check your fan...a very slight breeze coming out of the back of your tower...with a little whiring noise. If it is not running shut down your system and get it fix. It keeps your computer cool, and the last time that happened to a computer I supported it was the fan. If you don't you could loose the computer completely. Even if it only happens when you use a certain program please check this. I wouldn't want you to loose everything!

Thanks tirjasdyn :-) I chequed it and it works okay. I had a virus a while ago(well not me , my computer:-))and I suspect it damaged some files that cause the the computer to shut down sometimes. It usually happens when I have some program on for a longer time and dont work on it but just keep it resident. Then when I shut that program down, the whole computer shuts down. But thanks for the advice!!! And every month I burn a cd with all my latest stuff , just to make sure I keep al my stuff :-))

Sorry for being late to the party, but I discovered something that might come in handy someday. I just made a pz3 file, renamed it to .cr2 and then successfully loaded it into Mat Pose Edit.

Another possibility is to try the "import" function to load your problem PZ3 into your default workspace. I use import to merge PZ3s fairly often.

Tried the import, didnt work but thanks leather-guy. Miqal, you are the best!!!!!!!!!!! It worked, I changed the pz3 naming to cr2 and imported in a poserwizard. And the pz2 out of it works!!! THANK YOU!!!!! Hugs, Dal.
