This is what I've been playing with this week, Wagon is the only imported model.everything else 100%Bryce No post work yet. I was trying to dig a boolean lake but I couldnt get the water texture right, it seems in this dark image,it's hard to get good reflection without ggetting a washed out ambient look too, any suggestions,I would really like a lake and a couple horses ited nearby. maybe a couple pioneers gathered around the campfire. took me about an hour to make the lantern on the wagon the campfire ,smoke and cinders rising into the air took me all day today. any comments welcome. Cool! I like those low clouds, and the shadow pattern on the wagon...

Hawk, Since you asked for comments and since we are friends, this is just an observation: Way too many stars in the night sky. Based on the perspective plane of the wagon, your lake should be much lower. The smaller trees look too...flat or 2D and should appear darker in color. Cover on the wagon seems odd with straight sides and somewhat too tall. Also, most used canvas for the cover. I see the leaf springs for the wagon seat, but can't make out the odd seat details. At this point, I'm supposed to say, "Other than that, there's nothing wrong." Heh! Great job on the campfire and lantern too. I don't mean to sound nit picky about this but again, you did ask for comments. You do have a great start. Still Friends??

Art, ever seen the night sky from the high desert? Believe me, there aren't too many stars. Hawk. can't you put a water mat on the ground plane and then make a terrain to put on top and around that to do your lake? The ground and trees look too neat to me, too parklike and clean. I'd get rid of the plant that's right in front of the screen. The canvas on the wagon needs to be, I think, a bit more transparent for the light to shine through. Definitely needs some horses and people in there.

Talent is God's gift to you. Using it is your gift to God.

Sorry for late reply everyone, Thanks Inkwolf, Art, Always friends, and thanks for the suggestions. The wagon model is un altered as far as geometry ,I cant remember where I got it ,I'm terrible about giving credit, and I shall try to give the credits when It finally goes to the gallery as completed. The stars are that "Accurate Starfield".obp that I rave about.perhaps I could tone em down a bit or rotate the object to reveal a less dense part of the sky. funny thing Art, the small evergreen trees are the meshes and the larger trees are the 2d pic.s.Thanks for your suggestions . (OT) I'll try to get those movies from you next week. I have a job scheduled up in your neck of the woods. Boney, I think I agree with you about the plant in the foreground, once I populate the scene more I'm sure it will be in the way anyway. I suppose I could roughen up the plain a bit with a terrain, but my problem with the lake is more texture related. I don't think I ever did a lake at night and it's a bit tricky to get the reflection to come through without it looking washed out. hmmm, a transparent canvas for the wagon although I never actually rode in a wagon of this type.I'm sure they were quite heavy for protection from the elements. and increasing the transparency might look a little unconvincing but I thought about perhaps a silhouette(SP) of a figure on the canvas to suggest someone in the wagon. thanks for the suggestions guys Hawkfyr
