You might find this site useful for refence material, particularly the diagrams. The armor looks quite functional...what are you modeling this in?freyfaxi posted Tue, 25 March 2003 at 4:06 AM
Looks good..just one comment...I'd lower the vertical 'guards' on the shoulder to maybe half the apparent height ? In 'RL" ..they'de prevent the wearer turning his head freely if he was wearing a helmet - as I assume he would be. Also they'd restrict vision to the sides..vision in a helmet is restricted enough as it is All in all..very nice though

Howdy, Thanks for all the comments and the link. This armor isn't based off of and real syle armor. It's more of a fantasy style armor, so it may be a little unrealistic. Also, I don't know whether or not I'll post it for download. I'd like to go all out and model weaponry and protection to go with it. I'll see how it goes within the next few weeks. Thanks

That is some great looking armor. Very clean looking. If I were to critique it I would have to agree with freyfaxi in that the vertical guard on the shoulder should be lowered a bit. Other than that it rocks, and I for one would love to use it :-)

Kinda reminds me of the armour made by the lady-blacksmith which Heath Ledger's character wore in A Knight's Tale.

Looks nice. Only thing I'd change is the hip area. Usually plate armor in the hip area was made up of smaller pieces that overlapped and was open in the back. With it solid, there'd be very little hip movement and no way one could sit down to ride a horse. Of course part of the beauty of fantasy armor is it doesn't have to be functional! :-)

I like it a lot. It's a simpler armor, so it looks more realistic to me, even if it's supposed to be fantasy armor. I second, (third, whatever) the suggestion to lower the shoulder guards. On an otherwise solid, functional suit of armor, the shoulder guards look out of place. (And, yes, unless the armor is meant for a decorative suit of armor in a hallway, the hip area needs to be split up so the knight can walk and ride a mount.) Cheers!

Howdy, Thanks for the more comments. Yeah, I myself think the hip area needs to be reworked. I'll check into different styles of armors to see which I like best. I'm probably going to work on the headgear tonight. I would like to model a cloth-like cloak hood. I'm not going for you basic knight style armor. It's more of a fantasy, Holy Warrior of Light type of armor. Once I finish it I'd like to model a Grim Warrior of Darkness version, so there can be a good vs. bad thing going on. Also I'll look into the shoulder protection. I'll probably have that tonight, so I'll keep y'all posted Thanks
