Hi ppl I'm trying to create a flourescent light in br5 but can't get it right.I'm using a glass tube and filling it with tiny low power round lights because i can't find a way to make a long light. It's not bad but rendering is very slow due to so many light sources. Anyone suggest a better way?

Take a cylinder, make the ambience white and value 100. Then pace a light within. If it's fairly long you may need more lights but not as many as oyu are using now probably.

actually, I take a spherical light and stretch it to a cigar shape..but the above stuff probably works better..;)

Hmmm thanks guys but both of these produce individual glows from the lights,I'm using a similar method but with 76 lights to make a continuous glow, guess I need to stick with it.But thanks anyway!

Well this certainly helped me out. I've just finished putting this in my march challenge. Just need to create one more thing and I'll be all set. :-D

BTW, the cylinder I used didn't use any material, glass etc etc. Only the default grey, when you set the mat to additive it will become somewhat transparent.

pakled, stretching the light won't make the light come from more places it's calculated from the center. Making a light bigger will affect it's intensity. Basicall what clay described is what I was talking about except I forgot the additive part.
