Hi, Am I correct in assuming that it would be better to create people in Poser and import them into Carrara for use?? If this is true, which version of Poser should I use? Thanks for any help.

Hi Nemisis, Well, You cant create figures in Poser. They would need to be created in a modeling program like Ray Dream Studio, Carrara, Rhino etc...Then Imported into Poser. If there are figures that you have and they are already in Poser you can Export them from Poser and use them in Carrara for still images. Did that help? If not let me know. Clint

Oh - Get Poser 4. Its the latest version. If you are tight for money Poser 3 is a good program as well... You might be able to find Poser 3 cheap. Clint

Thanks for the reply and clarification. What is Poser used for then?

Thanks for the reply. It's starting to clear things up for me. Carrara will be an excellent foot in the door for 3d modelling and from there if you've got deep pockets and really enjoy this medium then it's into 3D STUDIO MAX or LIGHTWAVE ? (which hopefully can do all things well??)

Lightwave can do EVERYTHING well, but you need REEEEALLY deep pockets for that one..... I haven't had a chanceto play around with a copy of 3d studio max, but I hear it's pretty good as well... John Pfeiffer

3D studio max in my experience is better than lightwave, as it has more tools, and many times makes more sense. Lightwave, in my opinion is much easier to use than 3D studio max however 3D studio max's base program and tools are better than lightwave's. It's a toss up that's for sure, I just put in for my beta version of Maya II by wavefront. I am expecting good things out of them. Carrara a cool program for the money. It will be cooler after all of the bugs are fixed.
