How do I make them?

you can make a smaller size render or crop image in 2d application P.S. I didn't know what POV ment untill recently :)

Can use MS Paint to make thumbnails too. Go to the skew/stretch picture section. Adjust the stretch values less than 100 to make a smaller picture.

Once you have chosen the paint program to use, you might select a portion of the scene that looks interseting that is aproximately the size you want for the thumb and copy that to a new file that is the size of the thumbnail. Paste and adjust the pasted image's size to the size of the thumbnail.
