Subject: Render Settings Help

Why does the neck/body area come out so poorly. I am using the V3BodyMHi.jpg from DAZ on a Vic3 Character. Looking at my settings what changes can be made to elimanate the "blotchy" appearence.

Try to uncheck "Texture filtering"

According to the manual, it gives the texture a softer appearance and it's supposed to be used when you can't achieve a good anti-aliasing with the usual means. It should be disabled unless you have a good reason not to. I have never used it for anything, but it sounds like it might give the effect you are getting if used in the wrong situation.

Didn't help those shadows though-- I have this problem whenever the hair falls over the face-- then have to chase down various spotlights and turn off shadows in all but one or two. If anyone else has better idea on that-- I'm really open I hate that mess of shadows. Any reasons for your pixel samples being so high? I use the default, much lower. Same with bucket.

queri: i usually turn of the shadows in the hair itsselfs. select the hair or hairparts and in the properties uncheck the "cast shadows". I dislike thoseshadows too and the hair renders much faster.

I do the same thing, I was just hoping for another alternative-- I always run into someone int he galleries whining about no shadows on my hair.;)) Emily

You might try going back to a box filter for the hair shadows. Are you using ray-traced shadows on your lights? Try using mapped shadows. They can be blurred to your taste (though they will increase render time and memory).
