Guitta, no they're not for specific objects; they're just jpg textures that can be used for texturing in any program, even as texture in PhotoShop or other 2D program. I will try object space as soon as a render I"m waiting for is done and will let you know if that helps. I see distortions on your example, where the texture looks almost striped, does that happen to you on trees always?

Yes, this also happens ALWAYS with procedural textures. Guitta

That is very strange; I wonder why that happens. With the bark in my example, it seems that it appears mostly on areas where branches come together, like the mesh of the model won't map correctly, and it stretches the texture somehow.

That's for all of us strange, but sometimes we can be lucky and find a POV where it doesn't happen. I think with my texture (bitmap) it is already less visible then with the Kromkat texture.

I don't think it's the texture itself (whether bmp or jpg), but the way the texture maps to certain areas of the mesh. I will do some experimenting on imported tree meshes and see what happens.

Have you tried flat, faces,... as mapping modes ? Usually automatic choose the best but who knows ?

{I think with my texture (bitmap) it is already less visible then with the Kromkat texture.} Lol! - I can assure you it's not the textures! - they are tileable in every direction. It's some kind of mapping problem on the tree objects. I have barely used Vue yet, but it's something I noticed when i tried the trees out with texture maps. I would suggest talking to Linwhite, since she has been using mine and other textures on Vue trees, and I havent ever noiced any stretch artefacts in her images. I'd love to hear how you rectify it for when i start to delve in to Vue.! :)
