Subject: Object re-import scale problem, Poser 5

I'm trying to make a skull cap on a figure whose head I've modified in the face room. If I just export the head (or a skullcap prop) and then import it back in, it comes back about 8x the original scale.

I can use Amapi or Carrara to resize the object and it still imports at about 8x the resize. I can scale on import and this seems to resize it correctly. I've tried this as a wavefront object and in 3ds format.

I can export and import a normal, unmodified head without this problem.

This is with Poser 5 SR 2.1.

I found this while working with a skull cap. Earlier, I just resized the skullcap and went to work making a multi-region haristyle. Then on restart of poser, the skullcap seemed to go back to its original scale size and all my hairwork was screwed up (couldn't rescale the cap, poser seemed to think it was both the 8x and the proper size at the same time; it would jump between the two as I fiddled with scale and translation knobs).

This sounds like a Poser bug to me but I'm hoping that scale on import is a suitable work-around. However, I was looking for any similar experience from others before I spend another hour styling hair ;-)

Thanks for any help,

Marc

When you're importing, do you have 'percent of standard figure size' checked? If so, try turning that off. Unfortunately, that's my only suggestion. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you better.

graphic fox is right, uncheck the scale option, and as long as the prop is not scaled in any other program, the size should fit

Thanks, GarphicFoxx & thgeisel. I'll give that a try tonight!
